The floor between and behind the speakers is too often neglected I did, forgot how to find it. :) I am re-posting when this comes up in threads. I thought I would re-title the discussion so it was more specific.
Help with advice for high end speaker cables for my system! do you have adequate room treatment?
Are there really a bad misfits in the hifijungle out there Yep. Find a speaker that dips below 3 Ohms and suddenly they'll appear "discerning" of amplifiers. Same for ESL's. Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of very easy to drive speakers, thank goodness, which do not require 200 lb monoblocks to drive ...
Stupid Format Wars (or, How to Best Organize My Data) Um, I keep everything in FLAC and let my music software transcode to my portable as needed.
Poor bass and treble. Could you have meant RX-377? You need to run the YPAO feature. :)
Poor bass and treble. Also, make sure you let the receiver do all the crossover work. If your sub has a low pass filter and adjustment, set it as high as you can.
Poor bass and treble. So you describe the typical sub integration problem. What you need to do first is kill the worst offenders. What EQ options do you have? Did you use the room correction with the recommended measurements? Best,E
Poor bass and treble. Did you move the sub??
Mytek slams Hypex in Stereophile Amp Review @nugat I mean this sincerely: Are you just making up random numbers??
Looking for a warm sweet speaker Monitor Audio's top end. If you want to DIY, I recommend these:https://speakermakersjourney.blogspot.com/2017/12/snr-1-two-way-high-end-diy-monitor.html
The most fun you can have in audio is DIYing your own speakers @chumsusi - So ask Lee Taylor to make you a pair of cabinets. :) Best,Erik
Morrow Audio re-design announcement: No more Ag coated Cu; Increased numbers of runs. Ag coated copper for whatever reason takes time to break in, and then sounds just as good as pure copper. :) I'd be curious to know if after breaking in you find trading them in worthwhile. Pure silver on the other hand is the most neutral and unc...
Mytek slams Hypex in Stereophile Amp Review Nugat,That is weird. 1st order crossovers tend to create relatively benign loads as well. I’m not sure where you got 100 watts for which Ncore though. The modules are available for OEM’s in the 400 to 1200 watt per channel range. Best,E
DIY Class D amps @dgarretson - I wish I had a chance to listen to the Hypex but I really have not. Allegedly, based on spec, Hypex has a lower output impedance across the range so in theory it should be better for particularly difficult loads like electrostatics. ...
One DAC/integrated you could be happy with forever? @shadorne I'm going to have to re-read this, but my hazy memory is that this problem ONLY occurs as a result of upsampling. If you don't upsample, you don't have the problem to begin with. Best,Erik |
