Suggestions for replacement for my old Nuforce AVP-18 surround sound processor
So Atmos is going to take more speakers... are you looking to add speakers and amps too? :)
My pet peeve: "revealing" speakers
Sounds like a lot of audiophiles are frustrated having not achieved success in getting that revealing speaker FTR:  I'm not at all frustrated with my sound system.  I'm frustrated at the use of the word "revealing" used in reviews and impression...
My pet peeve: "revealing" speakers
I worry that many times these claims of having less loss, actually mean "more treble" or "distinct treble."
Accuphase E-470
Read several articles about Accuphase using dual voltage transformers.  Requires internal rewiring, may want to look that up. :)
Room Correction: Should I disconnect my REL Subwoofers before running room correction?
Subs are the most important part of room correction. :)  Leave them on.
My pet peeve: "revealing" speakers
Eric that is a very generalized assertion. Sir, this is a political debate.  If you want specifics you should go to a car dealership.
My pet peeve: "revealing" speakers
why would anyone buy a pair of speakers solely based on the manufacturers claim that they are revealing? @phd I certainly never brought up manufacturer's claims. I was talking about reviewers, both professional and amateur. It could be that th...
Evolving from a avr to an av processor. Benefit?
I don't think the AVR vs. AVP is a big deal so much as who is doing the processing. Do listen to the Anthems. I like the sound a lot better than Marantz. I currently run a mixed HT/2-ch system.  I have a Luxman integrated which lets me bypass ...
Help with blown tweeters/power issue
No idea if your speakers or amp are blown.  I'd get a cheap pair of speakers and try them. I suspect it's either your amp OR your amp and your speakers. It's also difficult to tell if you have merely surges or surges and sags. You may be one of th...
Listening as a civilian
Aside from having to recover, I can't tell you how lucky you are to get to this place in listening.  As some one who learned to always be looking for problems with hardware it is very very difficult to sit back and get out of a critical mindset. D...
My pet peeve: "revealing" speakers
@newbee :That's definitely a very popular method, and honestly this is a great solution for listening at low volumes.  The current line of Dali and some Dynaudio go this route.  Some create this by having a low impedance in the same area you descr...
My pet peeve: "revealing" speakers
PS:  My second pet peeve are reviewers who hear "revealing" and very colored speakers and call them "neutral" when they are clearly not.
Best thing to get
Go to GuitarCenter.com and look for "portable amps" or "guitar amplifier" for ideas.
Discussion of Class D Amps Application & Experiences
BTW: I like some class D a lot better than some class A. I’ve had audiophiles in my home and not once has anyone said "wow, those amps really sound like Class D." You could not tell a class D from a good linear amp as being Class D. You can hear d...
blu-ray/cd/sacd player with EQ or tone controls? Any recommendations please?
Oh, I know.  I miss Oppo.  I have a 103 and shudder to think if there will even be BD players when it dies.
