Don't know how old this is, but I've been able to hear ARC, D'Agostino, Parasound, Ayre and Luxman with Wilsons. ARC and Parasound were meh in very similar ways. D'Agostino, Ayre and Luxman are my happy place.

Did you try another cable?  Yes, usually there's a little click. Takes a little extra pressure.
Does the first reflection point actually matter??

Isolated ground for 20 amp
All grounds in a home must be bonded together and come to the neutral at exactly one point.  Everything else is a danger to life and property. However, you can run a ground rod loop. That is, you can put in more ground rods near your listening loc...
Does the first reflection point actually matter??

Does the first reflection point actually matter??
By your question you seem to assume that 1st reflection points are correctly treated by using panels etc. Oh, no, I'm questioning the ENTIRE canon which believes 1st reflection points even matter. In my experience, these points are not actually ...

How do you know what room treatments to use?
Talk to pros.  Call or e-mail GIK Acoustics. They have a section where you can upload pictures and ask for professional advice.  No one I know has better products and advice for less.
