Isolated ground for 20 amp Sorry @slaw I missed the noise issue you asked about. If you mean mechanical hum, that’s rare, and usually has to do with having DC in your line. If a balanced transformer is used however it can eliminate it, but in some cases, if the DC is severe...
Old vs New, an experience with Dynaudio. I'd be curious to measure them. It would not be the first pair of speakers with errors in the crossovers.
Isolated ground for 20 amp slawWell, the PS Audio regenerators, Furman LiFT and PurePower units are all active which work really well. Best,E
Can b&w 804 be placed near wall? Can you treat the room as well?? Those are pretty wide dispersing speakers which do better away from close surfaces. The EQ will help you fix the bass bump you'll get, but the lack of clarity from the positioning will make the 804's kind of moot.
My pet peeve: "revealing" speakers Are Revel models especially revealing? I think they are very good speakers, with a great wide sound stage. To be revealing, IMHO they have to show you something other good speakers don't. I would call them high performance, neutral, good values.
Isolated ground for 20 amp If you can run 240V, you may want to use a combination step down and balanced power conditioner. The 240V will reduce voltage dropping, and the balanced power part will reduce noise. You’ll have balanced power all the way from the transformer to y...
Isolated ground for 20 amp Hello @kanchi647 @erik_squires can you please recommend a few power conditioners. I am also looking into power distributors. Pros and Cons? I go over this mostly in my blog post, but as you may know, I like to stay with less expensive brands, as I...
Does the first reflection point actually matter?? @tuberollinYou are clearly wrong .... :) I'm joking, making fun of so many people here who can't see past their agenda. Your experiment seems to be exactly the kind of thing I'm asking. Seriously though, what speakers are you using?? and exac...
Does the first reflection point actually matter?? @aj523To my experience, as others here have noted, diffusion at the 1st reflection points are a better idea. They enhance imaging. Best,E
Does the first reflection point actually matter?? Now your post makes me question which panels are the most critical. And that’s all I’m trying to do. Imagine you place 8 vertical panels around the room, with 4 of them at reflection points. If you then rotate them all, say 15 degrees from the lis...
Isolated ground for 20 amp Running dedicated lines and power conditioners is not at all the same thing. Dedicated lines don't remove noise once it's at the pole and don't provide surge protection. I never suggest a $10k power conditioner, my suggestions were much more modes...
Subwoofer Settings please specify your make and models
Subwoofer Settings Brian,You are the one who used the terms. If you have a sub, I suggest you start with the manual there. Best,E
Integrated amp suggestions. i wouldn't call it a drak sound, but there is a blackness to the background that is quite uniqueExactly!! It is not tonally dark or warm.
Subwoofer Settings Hi Brian,So, low-pass means, it passes low frequencies. High-pass passes high frequencies. You want a lowpass to the subs, high pass to the main. 80 Hz is the THX standard and a useful starting point. |
