the dB/octave specification of the crossover?
There are many who are proponents of 1st order, time coincident crossovers as well. Vandersteen and Thiel among them. If you are curious, build some. :) How about the Seas A26 kit?  Has 1 capacitor and one resistor for a single order (6dB/octave) ...
A revealing speaker
Well, only because I feel invoked, wouldn't the word "engaging" be a better one-word summary of your experience??  How about "transparent?" :-)   All in good fun. Best,E
the dB/octave specification of the crossover?
I have a dumb question the dB/octave specification of the crossover. A speaker designer wrote on his Facebook that dB/octave is like the resolution of a television. For example, for the same set of drivers, if we apply a crossover with 12dB/oc...
Subwoofer on Top???
It's not the sub location, it's the additional mass on the floor standers. Best,E
Current equipment similar to ancient DBX 14/10 and/or 20/20 computerized equalizers?
Behringer works but I do NOT like them. If you are streaming, Roon has parametric EQs built in. If you want a very flexible unit, miniDSP has a number of EQ's and crossovers you can use in your gear. Schiit Loki is a 4 band tone control a lot like.
Help! Choosing a Roon core/streamer/server! (Roon vs Innuos vs Wyred4Sound)
Build your own Roon server/player with a single board computer and Ubuntu.
Low incoming voltage
The Furman has no fans, but a slight hum, and slight clicking sound as it adjusts.  Available new. :)
Integrated amp suggestions.
Ayre has a certain darkness, like it pulls noise out of the room.  It's kind of a funny effect.  Very smooth, touch warm in the sense of Parasound. Luxman is closer to D'Agostino.  Extended on both ends, liquid midrange. Have never heard Simaudio ...
Discussion of Class D Amps Application & Experiences
You can't compare a Class D feedback loop with a linear amp's feedback loop.  Stop it.
speaker xover design/testing
Hey Mozartfan, Well I used to, but ask your question over at DIYAudio, maybe with more details.  Also, Madisound will do this for parts they sell. Best,Erik
Low incoming voltage
You need what is called a "voltage regulator." Most power conditioners don’t have this feature because it is always expensive on account of the big, heavy iron and copper parts, and for most of us it is not needed. In your case you really do. Here...
Tweeter Upgrade
Those are very decent tweets.  I'd leave them alone and upgrade any caps in series.
Can hardware change speaker phasing over time??
More likely your connectors needed a good cleaning. :)
Phase inverted preamps and Rel Subwoofers.
Could this cause the heat? No, BUT you could have a minor short, especially if using bare copper ends. Double check you don't have a stray conductor strand.
Integrated amp suggestions.
I've heard the D'Agostino amp, but not the integrated.  Very good sounding.  Another great choice is the Luxman series.  Not sure if you'd prefer the Class A or A/B. I also like Ayre a great deal, but distinctly different than those two.
