Convert USB to SPDIF Why don’t you do a Roon/Pi setup with a HiFi Berry output card?https://www.hifiberry.com/shop/boards/hifiberry-digiplus-standard-version/
Does the first reflection point actually matter?? You don’t match acoustic treatments to the operating range of the speakers. You match them to the reverberation of the room. Anyone who says "well, my speakers work from x to y Hz and therefore so should my panels" is selling you bs. See practical...
Does the first reflection point actually matter?? The GIK 242s are rated from 250, and the 244s from 80. He specifically wanted to match the 35hz +/- 3db point of the Harbeth for smoother results Um, that's not how this works, but OK then! Hope it comes out well. Best,E
Does the first reflection point actually matter?? I love measurements. I spend my day job measuring things. I have 3 calibrated microphones right next to me, and yet, when it comes to the question of:"How do you help the average audiophile?" I have really come to be against measurements. I worry ...
Does the first reflection point actually matter?? 5. Tame from "40 cycles - 7000 cycles" as he calls it with eight (8) carbon panel CPs at $750 per panel. And since each panel weighs 150lbs, its about $1,000 for shipping. So all in $7,000. @aj523This is why I always recommend GIK acoustics. Very...
50’ Connection Between Mac and DAC Hi OP:The pi acts as a receiver/converter. It will take what your mac sends and output via USB. Your Mac will need to be on and on the network to serve as the Roon server
It is not you, the sound really is getting worse Hey @spenavAs you point out, so long as you are happy, that is what matters. I just haven't had the bad experiences you have. Yet. Best,Erik
It is not you, the sound really is getting worse Speaking of coaxials for a center channel, how about this DIY kit?? https://www.madisoundspeakerstore.com/coaxial-speaker-kits/seas-loki-mkii-coaxial-kit-parts-only-eac...
It is not you, the sound really is getting worse Yes, turning up the center is a good fix, as is using dynamic range compression available in all modern processors. Still, the honest truth is that dialogue is worse than it was before. Even in carefully calibrated THX theaters LotR had issues, an...
50’ Connection Between Mac and DAC I totally do not understand why you would go this route when you could install Roon server on your Mac and put a Pi based Roon player in your rack for less than $200 and be done with this, while gaining iPhone/Android remote capabilities.
D'agostino amplifiers: where's the beef? If you listen to Pass, Luxman, Ayre and D'Agostino you'll definitely come away with a strong preference. :-) I have to say that if you strongly like Pass, you'll probably dislike the others and vice versa. In the case of Pass, speaker matching is...
It is not you, the sound really is getting worse Just to be clear, @spenav : You and Toole seem to be discussing two different things. You keep saying distortion and dialogue clarity. If we’re talking about on-axis, then nothing Tool is describing really should create a lack of dialogue clarity....
It is not you, the sound really is getting worse I understand where Toole is going with this, and in absolute arguments, comparing them to ideal, he’s right, they are not optimum. In practice I’ve been quite successful. Maybe I accidentally created the best center channel ever??? << laughs...
Adding a small subwoofer for music in 2020 Serious suggestion? Get an Anthem integrated and a sub. The issue with subs in your space is not the quality of the sub but the effort to integrate them. If you want to be done, and done well, quickly, go with the Anthem and your choice of high...
Good Inexpensive Multi Plug OP:The best for sound quality and surge protection are the ZeroSurge/Brickwall units. They also lack in features. I've never had a Furman degrade sound quality, but I have noticed sound was harsher without it. Best,Erik |
