Can I bi-amp ProAc Response 3's
My ProAc Response 2s were set up for bi-whatevering. Do the 3s have two separate sets of speaker wire binding posts? Pretty much a dead tip-off there. Unless your preamp has different selectable gain for the two pre-outs, you may have issues match...
TV/AV stands
If you are looking for high quality, nice looking AV racks, check out Solidsteel racks from Italy... www.solidsteel.itI've got an H.6 and a pair of the H.6 Parters for associated gear and I think they are awesome tables...
What's your latest "Discovery"
Thanks Marco, I actually have gone out and bought both the other two. Its strange, with the intro to PG being "Silver Bell," and then Flaming Red, its harder for me to get into 1000 Kisses or Living With Ghosts. The oddities of expectations, I gue...
Stands make a huge difference with ProAc
My Response 2s showed up before the stands did and I thought I'd blown it entirely. They sounded thin and the mid-bass that they should have had wasn't there. I was seriously doubting my purchase until the stands showed up. The stands I used were ...
What's your latest "Discovery"
Someone threw a track called "Silver Bell" by Patty Griffin on a compilation that got send to me. I immediately went out an bought Flaming Red, which is an awesome record--she shows incredible versatility, going from slow cynical songs to upbeat c...
Which artists do you just not get?
Limiting myself to those that seem to have gotten some degree of acceptance among critics and audiophiles, I'll nominate:Creed U2Enyaand certainly second the nomination of Eminem.
Martin Logan Repair and/or Rejuvenation?
My manual does say something about vaccuuming the panels in situ after unpluggin' them for 24 hours or so.I'd definitely check w/ML before sticking the panels in the shower. Do not, under any circumstances, use soap, however. The panels are charge...
Could This Be Your Next Power Conditioner?
Duh... Of course. Interesting, VA has one of those netting out programs...
Could This Be Your Next Power Conditioner?
Twl-I read the prior thread on going off the grid and was intrigued then, and the article Buscis2 referenced reinforced that. I just bought 120AC of unimproved land in the Blue Ridge mountains in VA where I plan on putting up a timberframe as a we...
cones or sorbothane or both?
Theaudiotweak, I don't comprehend. Is the earth direct coupled to what? The vibrations don't go on forever, so ultimately its turned into heat from internal friction--the earth is thus, in fact, absorbent. Also, things *can* be effectively isolate...
Driving ProAc Response 2 With Solid State
I bought a pair of Response 2 speakers (don't know about an "s" version) 10 years ago and fell in love with their speed and transparency. While I changed over to Martin Logans for my main rig, I still use the Response 2s in my office system and co...
Best Manufacturer's Website Features
I'd put pdfs of manuals as an essential. I've also really appreciated that some mfrs have put downloadable Pronto ccfs for their gear. Related links--user forums/lists would also be a plus...
I am getting Comcast HDTV, but...
1080i = HD, so yes, your TV is ready. HDTV is 720p *or* 1080i *or* 1080p. If your XBR is the same as mine, it does 720p and 1080i--*nobody* does 1080p. (Some video junkies will tell you 720p is actually superior to 1080i; I bet 1080p is fantastic)...
cones or sorbothane or both?
Cones and sorbothane disks are based on two different theories. Although there are those who would claim differently, I believe you negate the effects of cones using sorbothane anything. A cone is a coupling device, sorbothane disks are a decoupli...
DAC for Audiotron
I've got a pair of Audiotrons. One is connected so that the d/a is done by my Theta Casablanca, the other is in my pool room running via the analog RCA outs. The pool room system is fine for background music when I'm drinking beer with friends and...
