What are your top three live concerts of all time?
Sorry. I just don't remember Phast Phreddie. But can I tell you how much I miss the restaurants in the area?  Just for starters, Rigo's Tacos at Oxnard & Woodman for their Al Pastor burrito. The Carnival Restaurant for Lebanese. That dessert c...
Music Direct and my recent exoeriences
I’ve gotten excellent service from every U.S. based audio website I’ve dealt with -- Upscale Audio, Music Direct and Audio Advisor. The way I see it, High End Audio is a small enough...and picky enough world to make them all want to go the extra m...
Commander Cody
St. Peter told him, "Yeah, have another cigarette."
Commander Cody
His music was no end of fun. RIP, Commander!
If there’s an audiophile exit ramp, this ain’t it…
Descend into the Qobuz rabbit hole.
Is improvisational jazz to impressionism art as smooth jazz is to realism art?
Grab/sit down at your instrument. Take any tune. Flat the Five (the So in do-re-mi-fa-so). Linger on the Seven (Ti) and Nine (Re, but up an octave). Find a DJ with a very deep voice to introduce you. Make sure you carry two IDs so you can cash tho...

Gimme Mahler! Gimme the Ramones! Gimme Coltrane! Gimme Rodgers & Hammerstein! Gimme the Archies!  Gimme Hildegarde von Bingen! Gimme Penderecki! Gimme Sinatra!
Is improvisational jazz to impressionism art as smooth jazz is to realism art?
@bdp24  Yeah, there are more than a few out there who listen to difficult, non-straightforward music simply to demonstrate how "intelligent" they are. I have to say, too, that my first exposure to atonal, polytonal, rhythmically complicated music ...

The "Snake Oil" Trope
There will always be wars waged between number crunchers and aesthetes.  As for me, I always insist that my snake oil be Extra Virgin.
What are your top three live concerts of all time?
bdp -- I’m sure we ran into each other more than once. My sister was buddies with the Rhino Records crew. She constructed the store’s giant papier-mache rhinoceros horn that eventually (at least I think) resided in my apartment. Do I get the name ...
Is it ever enough?
As knotscott sez.
What are your top three live concerts of all time?
@bdp24, Yeah you probably realize it but McCabe's Guitar shop is on Pico Blvd., not Santa Monica. I was a true regular there. Saw many acts, and spent more hours than I should taking Martin Guitars off the wall and playing 'em.
Audiophile Priorities and Recent Topics
Don't be so serious...  If ya' like it, like it. If ya got the bucks, spend the bucks. Let freedom ring. Or is that being clanged with jackhammer treble and getting stomach-punched with overbearing bass? Then again, maybe we could avoid the agony ...
Does Expert Music Streamer Outrun CD Player?
@ghdprentice I think the thing I most love about streaming is the sheer variety of material on offer. It doesn't matter that I already have several thousand LPs, collected over the decades. When I cue up Idagio or Qobuz, my two current streaming s...
