UGH...The tired, "BEST" Rock guitarist thread
@orgillian197  A truly prime selection of fret flyers. But I'm also partial toward the punk/new-wave generation. The Ramones (I'll never remember their individual first names) remain underappreciated and unsurpassed for their unanimity and sheer ...
UGH...The tired, "BEST" Rock guitarist thread
Did I mention on this website that I walked out in the middle of a Mahavishnu Orchestra concert at the Santa Monica Civic? Virtuosity to spare. But stiff, one-dimensional and overbearing.
UGH...The tired, "BEST" Rock guitarist thread
Blues Breakers/Cream era Clapton remains my favorite electric blues guitarist. Those recordings are the reason I bought an electric and hunkered down to learn to play. Ardent.Mellifluous..

I'm so sick of look-at-me-I'm-so-cool guitar solos, I could hurl. Sure, bad taste is often good taste. But bad taste is bad taste more often.
Why Do You Post?
Develop your skimming skills. It'll make this website work much better. .And have sympathy for the site's would-be novelists. May their fingertips never cramp!
What are you streaming tonight?
The Gospel According to the Other Mary by John Adams.
What's with all the new colored vinyl?
Hey, I've got a couple of LPs that are cut from the center of the disc outward to the edge. One reason for it was to counteract skating forces...which, of course is obviated by the existence of anti-skate.  Another reason was because classical mus...
I don't want to beat a dead horse but I'm bugged.
Slightly off-topic I know, but me and the wife have have a half dozen quality steel string acoustic guitars. All sound different, including the clutch of Martins. What I’m trying to say here is don’t go too nuts, tone color-wise.
What's with all the new colored vinyl?
Wouldn't it be nice if every band on a record side were a different color so we'd better know where to cue up the needle? Or how 'bout if the vinyl between cuts were a contrasting color to the rest of the side?   All in all, though, let a thousa...
Does Anyone Else Member the Golden Age of Audio Insults and Product Degradation?
I remember Karmon Hardon and San Sewer.
Why Does My Current Music Sound So Much Better than It Did in the 80’s?
Science becomes increasingly more sensitive & skilled at dancing with art, Makers with ears some up with new ways to skin the cat.
Classical Music for Aficionados
Currently getting lovely tone and vibrant, spacious 3D sound-staging from a,,,get this...CD level stream of Der Freischutz on Idagio. I'm a happy guy. Yeah, it's from Harmonia Mundi France.
Why Do You Post?
What can I say? I enjoy hanging out here. The posters at the 'gon may be surlier than normal but they also tend to be brighter than normal. In any event, I have a thick skin when it comes to engaging in arguments over the aether. For one, you don'...
I don't want to beat a dead horse but I'm bugged.
Let both worlds exist. Let the arguments continue to play out. Hope that laws aren’t passed that make it a crime to submit to one side or the other. I see the bumper stickers now. "Love a tube amp. Go to jail.".
Who's an artist that you're a fan of but whose name you're not sure how to pronounce?
I was once told by a guy who supposedly knew Hungarian that "Nyiregyhazi" was pronounced near-uh-JAHZ-ee.  BTW, I prize myself for being able to properly pronounce most of the world's languages I come across. But I was pretty much  a failure when ...
