How best to eliminate LP warps
@baylinor  If I insulted you I'm sorry but I was hoping you got my joke.  The icon/photo you have on the upper left corner of your posts is the cover of David Bowie's "Aladdin Sane."  I'm willing to bet that Bowie came up with the title as a play...

How important is spending time with your gear?
I'll continue the thread drift. The best visual aspect regarding my stereo room is the view out my two windows. It doesn't hurt that the window glass doesn't affect the imaging enough to bother me.
How best to eliminate LP warps
As my brain continues to de-fog (thanks all you guys!), I now remember doing A-B comparisons between having the SOTA vacuum hold down on & off. Vacuum hold down gave me more weight and dynamics but I often preferred the lighter, airier sound o...
How best to eliminate LP warps
My brain is getting foggy but I'm ninety percent sure I once had a vacuum hold-down platter for my SOTA turntable. In any case, when it ceased to work and the thing's center bearing got noisy, I shipped the 'table to SOTA HQ and had them install a...
What is this term 'analytical' ?
It usually refers to a set-up that emphasizes treble/high frequencies. If you listen to a lot of live, unamplified music or play live music yourself, you soon find that a lot of audio systems.do like to give you a bit more treble.
Alright, it's too quiet around here. Let's have some fun.
Anarchy in the UK -- the Sex Pistols. Every cut on the Ramones' Road to Ruin. Any Chopin played by Maurizio Pollini. Schubert's Symphony #5 played by Otto Klemperer and the Philharmonia Orchestra.

The opening cut on David Bowie's Aladdin Sane, "Watch that Man."
Question about speaker angle
I have my modestly-sized, stand-mounted Nola Boxers canted very slightly inward. I found the sound a bit sterile and small in image size when the speakers were directly pointing at my ears. The image I get with the speakers just off parallel might...

@bdp24 You forced me to break out my old A&M Tea For the Tillerman LP. Most likely not an initial pressing as it took me a while to warm up to the music on the album. The sound is a little buzzy-fuzzy, exactly how I remember it. I have most ...
How important is spending time with your gear?
I enjoy looking at the stuff. It also helps a bunch to have it be visible and no more than a few steps away. You need to be able to operate the remote controls. You wanna be able to run to the turntable when you feel the need to clean the stylus, ...
Almost equality
@rvpiano Yeah, it's the Horenstein performance. I also have it on a Unicorn double-LP. The Unicorn pressing is much quieter but the Nonesuch pressing has much more dynamics, tone and life. What can I say? I'd rather withstand the warps, clicks and...
Question about speaker angle
As Boris Karloff once said in a TV ad for A-1 Steak Sauce, "Experiment with it!"
Almost equality
Yeah, I'm truly satisfied with my Cambridge streamer getting fed by Qobuz and Idagio. It's also a treat to essentially "own" the record store. Then again, right now I'm truly enjoying an old (if slightly tick & poppy) Nonesuch pressing of Mahl...

@bdp24 -- Yeah, I was held up at gunpoint at the place, one night, when I was behind the counter "working the reg." Gave her (yeah, her) all the money. It wasn't much later that they tried to make amends to me by getting me a job at the Classics s...
