I gotta say that, for the past forty or so minutes I've been getting absolutely outstanding fidelity from an Idagio CD level stream of Beethoven String Quartets performed by the Ehnes Quartet. Natural, sweet tone. Small live room ambience. All the...
Your sub experience: Easy or hard?
@erik_squires Yeah, it ain't easy maintaining order in the unruly cyber universe...😅
Qobuz Skipping or Short Pauses
I'm not motivated enough to get to the root of my Qobuz problem because it honestly only matters for me with certain pieces of classical music, and my go-to classical streaming site is Idagio. Yeah, I did attempt to go into Qobuz settings and try ...
Looking for wider soundstage
Yeah, I know it's tough getting a truly optimal placement for a system. I feel for ya. I mean, when somebody wanders into the kitchen in the middle of the night for that bowl of Rice Crispies, you don't want them going nose-to-nose with a soft-dom...
Albums you do not get...a plea for help and understanding
I saw Miles Davis live in concert during his Bitches Brew days. I never liked the album but I got to say that the performance was truly involving and excellent.
Qobuz Skipping or Short Pauses
I don't know if this relates to your problem, but I've found that Qobuz always inserts an approximately 2 second pause between cuts. This can be annoying with classical music as movements of symphonies, etc. often follow each other without a break...
WiFi streaming — streamer vs. through iPad
My streaming took a substantial jump in quality when I got a dedicated streamer/DAC combo and relegated my PC to simply being the streamer/DAC's controller. As expected, sound quality went back to not-terrible-but-nothing-special when, just for ki...

I essentially like any genre. The only thing I insist on is that the music be delivered with passion, commitment and skill.  Invention is always nice, too, but it isn't crucial.
Best progressive rock album side
@o_holter  -- Steppenwolf played a set at my high school, in the auditorium. They didn't play "The Pusher," most likely because the administration forbid them to do it. They were good, too.

I agree with cd318's assessment of Zappa. Too noisy. One dimensional. More of a technician than an artist.
Albums you do not get...a plea for help and understanding
I listened to Paul Simon's Graceland for a heck of a long period of time. For one, it has some of the best sound quality of any LP of the period. The Ladysmith Black Mambazo cuts were revelatory .in their freshness, 3D imaging and sheer beauty. Tr...

My problems with Zappa are many. He's too arrogant.  Too mean. His stuff is more complicated than complex. The stuff comes off as busy.

Okay, you've prompted me to quote some Dylan off the top of my head. From Mr. Tambourine Man.  Sorry if it ain't quite perfect -- "And take me disappearing through the smoke rings of my mind The foggy runes (ruins?) of time Far past the frozen ...

chowkwan -- Yeah, I admit to being a bit tough on the label... It doesn't help that right now I'm streaming an utterly first-rate DG recording of Haydn's London Symphony via Idagio.
