Playback Designs Thanks for the info Doggiehowser
Playback Designs I have a MPS-5 which I purchased after comparing to the dcs Puccini and U clock. The Playback sounds less digital to me, I have a high end vinyl rig and the MPS can sound surprisingly similar, depending on the recording. It sounds anything but lea...
Analog vs Digital Confusion I am indeed the type of guy you suggest whart (61). We also share similar TTs and cartridges, I use an AirTight pc-3. The 4point is a wonderful sounding arm btw, I speced my own arm tower which saved me a lot of money.I agree it is a real buzz to ...

Analog vs Digital Confusion I have never had an issue with pitch stability when using a TT.As for vinyl v CD then as has been mentioned previously I think it is a preference thing.I came to CD quite late and still have a largish vinyl collection so it made sense to invest in...
playback mps-5 v dcs puccini thanks for your suggestions Doggiehowser. I have decided to get hold of an USB-X box, then investigate the computer side. I have a mac pro and a macbook pro at the moment.
playback mps-5 v dcs puccini Mike - you mentioned the USB-X that you use with the MPS-5, have you compared CD disc playback with the same CD file played through the USB-X box from your computer?I wondered if the playback from the computer, through the box, was as good as play...
Next Phonostage I used a BAT P10se for a long time and considered upgrading it as I liked it a lot. Could not in the end as there are no dealers anymore in the UK. I now use the ARC Ref 2 which is indeed fairly neutral, dynamic, fluid with a wide sound stage. I a...
Attn Vinyl lovers - what CD Player do you use? I use a Playback MPS-5, first cd player to run my kuzma XL4 deck close.
Anyone compared Whest Audio with Manley Steelhead? spotted a mistake in previous post - Should be Whest PS.30R DT - the upgraded version is 30R DT se.you might be interested in this thread - An evening with the Whest PS.30RDT. (Special Edition)
Anyone compared Whest Audio with Manley Steelhead? I tried a Whest PS.30R in my system comparing it to my then BAT P10se. The Whest was very close. The BAT just had that valve(tube) richness and a bit more scale, which I prefered. However the BAT is 2.5 times the price of the Whest here in the UK....
any success with "Vinyl flat" and warped records I have one of these - it has worked pretty well so far. probably done about 10 LPs. It is case of getting your oven to the right temp (dont have the bag) - needs a bit of practice but worth getting.
Airtight PC-3 users, tracking angle? Thanks for the input. I seem to have found a good sounding angle now. However it does involve lowering the arm so it is 6 or 7mm (approx) below horizontal which is more than with other cartridges I have.
dCS Puccini CD transport noise I recently bought a Playback MPS-5, second hand, which also has an esoteric mech. It sounds great but the mech is noisy, if I put it on pause I can hear it from my listening position. when playing it makes a whirring sound which seems similar to w... |
