Wanting to simplify my system ......
I had a similar desire last year, I had a Bat 52se and ARC ref 2 phono. I managed to audition several alternatives and ended up with a used Dartzeel NHB 18 with built in phono.I have always liked tubes however the Dart improved on the sound of my ...
BAT preamp: Rex to Rex-2 upgrade
I have used the 51se, 52se and Vkph10se phono. I do like BAT gear it is so well built and Victor was always a great help. BAT is not supported in the UK so I have had to move on.Sounds like you are really enjoying your upgrade well done on a good ...
Why so many linn lp12s for sale
Daveyf I have not heard the most recent LP12, mine was 2004ish with lingo and ekos ii. I was disappointed that an Orbe fitted with an ekos outperformed my "renowned" dealer set up Linn as did a Roksan.I think the Linn is fine if you like the sound...
Why so many linn lp12s for sale
The LP12 has had its day. I had a couple over a 20 year period. It does need regular attention which is not difficult if you know what to do.IMO it is now outclassed by better designs.
ARC Ref phono stage.
I had the ARC ref 2 phono and was thinking of upgrading to the SE version. I was investigating trading up to the SE but decided to try out some alternatives first. I was using a BAT 52se.I tried the Allinc H3000 but preferred the ARC, then tried a...
Kuzma Four Point compared to SME V-12 tonearm
Hi Springsteen - I can only relate what I heard and a uk dealer as well. Maybe the LPs has improved since.
Kuzma Four Point compared to SME V-12 tonearm
Yeah I thought that until I was able to adjust the azimuth. The kuzma arms don't seem to compromise on rigidity and are certainly better than sme.
Kuzma Four Point compared to SME V-12 tonearm
I had the SME v standard size on a SME 20/2 TT. I now have a Kuzma XL4 TT, initially with a ref Stogi 313arm (12") . I compared the kuzma set up with the SME using a Benz LP ebony in both. The Kuzma was superior. I know this is the shorter sme arm...
Michell Gyro SE-what arm?
I heard a Wilson Benesch Act arm on an Orbe with a Lyra cartridge and it sounded very good.
EMM Labs CDSA SE vs DCS Puccini
Hi ours13I managed to borrow a Puccini+USB clock, for a couple of days to compare to my then ARC CD5. The Puccini was better but it was marginal and I did not buy it.I ended up with the playback MPS 5 second hand it is very good, the side by side ...
Redbook CD Is Not Dead
I hope the CD sticks around for a long time yet. There is a fantastic choice of music at reasonable prices. Generally I have found the physical CD, playing in my CDP, produces better sound than the ripped version played from my Mac Pro. However I ...
Isolation platforms for turntables
I have built my own - very high mass plus anti vibration material and springs. I have no feedback issues at all now.
LP Record Cleaning Machine - Ultrasonic or Vacuum
It was this one, or something very similaron ebay - Professional Ultrasonic Cleaner 6L - I don't know if the 60Hz would make any difference. This one works fine at 40Hzhttp://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Professional-Ultrasonic-Cleaner-6L-with-heating-drain...
LP Record Cleaning Machine - Ultrasonic or Vacuum
I use an 6L ultra sonic tank (from ebay) and suspend several records at a time in tap water with a mild surfactant. Then finish on my VPI cleaner using art du son. Quite laborious but the results are excellent, even on old second hand vinyl. Some ...
