Why so many linn lp12s for sale
The LP12 has had its day. I had a couple over a 20 year period. It does need regular attention which is not difficult if you know what to do.IMO it is now outclassed by better designs.
ARC Ref phono stage.
I had the ARC ref 2 phono and was thinking of upgrading to the SE version. I was investigating trading up to the SE but decided to try out some alternatives first. I was using a BAT 52se.I tried the Allinc H3000 but preferred the ARC, then tried a...
Kuzma Four Point compared to SME V-12 tonearm
Hi Springsteen - I can only relate what I heard and a uk dealer as well. Maybe the LPs has improved since.
Kuzma Four Point compared to SME V-12 tonearm
Yeah I thought that until I was able to adjust the azimuth. The kuzma arms don't seem to compromise on rigidity and are certainly better than sme.
Kuzma Four Point compared to SME V-12 tonearm
I had the SME v standard size on a SME 20/2 TT. I now have a Kuzma XL4 TT, initially with a ref Stogi 313arm (12") . I compared the kuzma set up with the SME using a Benz LP ebony in both. The Kuzma was superior. I know this is the shorter sme arm...
Michell Gyro SE-what arm?
I heard a Wilson Benesch Act arm on an Orbe with a Lyra cartridge and it sounded very good.
EMM Labs CDSA SE vs DCS Puccini
Hi ours13I managed to borrow a Puccini+USB clock, for a couple of days to compare to my then ARC CD5. The Puccini was better but it was marginal and I did not buy it.I ended up with the playback MPS 5 second hand it is very good, the side by side ...
Redbook CD Is Not Dead
I hope the CD sticks around for a long time yet. There is a fantastic choice of music at reasonable prices. Generally I have found the physical CD, playing in my CDP, produces better sound than the ripped version played from my Mac Pro. However I ...
Isolation platforms for turntables
I have built my own - very high mass plus anti vibration material and springs. I have no feedback issues at all now.
LP Record Cleaning Machine - Ultrasonic or Vacuum
It was this one, or something very similaron ebay - Professional Ultrasonic Cleaner 6L - I don't know if the 60Hz would make any difference. This one works fine at 40Hzhttp://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Professional-Ultrasonic-Cleaner-6L-with-heating-drain...
LP Record Cleaning Machine - Ultrasonic or Vacuum
I use an 6L ultra sonic tank (from ebay) and suspend several records at a time in tap water with a mild surfactant. Then finish on my VPI cleaner using art du son. Quite laborious but the results are excellent, even on old second hand vinyl. Some ...

Understanding Gain in the ARC Ref Phono 2 SE
Philb7777That is good to hear. I like the sound of the ref2 it is better than the Allnic so if the ref2 se is a significant improvement then I will be pleased. It is well worth using higher output (0.5mV or above) cartridges with the ref2.
Understanding Gain in the ARC Ref Phono 2 SE
I have the ARC ref 2 and use it with a BAT 52se. I had a Benz with an output of 0.35 which was OK with the low gain (balanced output) 95 vol setting (140 max). Also a vDH cart which is even lower, this was again ok at 95-104 vol.If I want to liste...
Tonearm: Phantom vs. 4 Point vs. 10.5
I have a kuzma 4point with a kuzma XL4 TT and it works extremely well. I also have a Kuzma ref 313 as a second arm. The 313 outperforms my previous sme v.The 4 point outperforms the 313 as would be expected. These arms and TT play great music. They...
