Opinions wanted on cantilever alignment
Luckily, you are dealing with a company that has been around for awhile and that stands behind its products. I bought my Kleos new from a Lyra dealer, which turned out to be a very good thing as warranty service was required.
SF Cremonese Q
@keithr Keith, you say the Il Cremonese is preferable to the Wilson, Magico, Rockport, etc., which models are you referring to?The new Wilson Sasha DAW with the right amplification is pretty good...and apparently so is the new Magico A5, although ...
SF Cremonese Q
@asa  Another option for a larger room would be a new pair of Franco Serblin Ktema's. They don't get a lot of press in the US, but are an excellent speaker.
Constant noisy tubes maybe go solid state?
Tubes are like taking care of a small child, they give you wonderful moments but need a lot of care.If you want the best SQ, IME, it is still going to come from tube gear, unless you spend the very big $$ and go for top ss. OTOH, if you want great...
Opinions wanted on cantilever alignment
The cantilever should not look like that. I had an exact same issue and it was corrected by Lyra after a trip to Japan. I noticed this misalignment after just a few minutes on my tonearm. My dealer was behind me 100% and the folks at Audioquest we...
Chasing down the problem
@mijostyn  If i do that on my Nordost cable, i lose the warranty. No thanks.
Chasing down the problem
@millidas   As I stated above, I did indeed go to my local tech, who solved the issue. He wasn't located in a shopping center however...:0)
Diamond Stylus Enters the 4th Dimension
@mijostyn I think you are right, the Acoustat 6 and the model 8 were in fact doubled up three’s and fours. I seem to remember that they were not called 3+3 or 4+4 though. I did think that the stacked Quad’s were more revealing and accurate in thei...
SF Cremonese Q
If you like the Serblin era SF's..and I can totally understand why, then why not seek out one of those?  Depending on your room size, the Extrema's, the GH's, or the Strads are pretty hard to beat, IMHO.I use the GH's in my very small dedicated ro...
smaller speakers for critical listening?
The new Sonus Faber Electa Amator 3's should be on your short list.
Tung Sol KT 170
Here's hoping a few things will apply..1) They do not need a revised transformer design, as the KT150's required 2) they are reliable and consistent and 3) they don't give off too much heat!
Diamond Stylus Enters the 4th Dimension
@mijostyn  I think you are referring to the Acoustat 6's when you say 3+3...is that right? I had a friend who used to own the Acoustat 8's. They were huge! Required an extremely large room, which he had, and were not that easy to drive. I thought ...
Diamond Stylus Enters the 4th Dimension
@katylied I know a number of dealers who are now refusing to stock or sell the Onzow cleaner. I’m pretty sure  the horror stories with the Onzow result from what you say...user error. I use one on my Lyra, along with the Last Stylast, and both do ...
Diamond Stylus Enters the 4th Dimension
@mijostyn  Your photo of the cantilever tells the whole story. It seems clear that there was an incorrect gluing of the stylus to the cantilever. A clear manufacturing defect, IMHO. This is something that the manufacturer should make right for you...
Chasing down the problem
@gdnrbob. Thank you for the vote of confidence. Luckily, the issue has seemingly been resolved with the preamp. I recently rolled in NOS Telefunken 12AX7 smooth plates and Amperex 6922 PQ's into the phono stage, a very nice addition. The CAT reall...
