What makes for a "good" musician?
The ability to improvise is what I feel as an ex-pro musician is the most important aspect. Many other factors, but I always look for that in band mates.
Is the Esoteric P03/D03 still relevant?
I really like the DV60 for not just SACD, but also for Redbook, but you have to turn off the video section. Great spinner.
Linn LP 12 hum not coming from Bryton phono stage.
Valhalla's are getting long in the tooth, does the table hum if you place it somewhere else? If so, I would look at the Valhalla board. BTW, the Bryston phono stage is really good.
Is a Linn Sondek LP12/Lingo/Ekos with a Cirkus update, the last turntable I’ll ever buy?
@fstein   Do tell us what you think is better for the price that this LP12 is being offered at...or even for twice that price.

@gordon  You want us to believe that a 150 lb man walking on a concrete slab floor is going to cause problems with the LP12?? Is this concrete slab suspended by wire over a large open space, because if it is not and this is the typical concrete sl...

@gordon   " footfalls are almost always a problem with LP 12's, even on a concrete slab"...i don't know what kind of footfalls you are talking about, but they must be made by a GIANT for that to be the case, LOL.

As usual when it comes to Linn turntables, we have a lot of folks who have either a) never owned one...but still are happy to put in their 2cents or b) owned one, but it was about thirty + years ago, and they never got it to work right, so they so...
Beryllium Tweets
Metal dome tweeters all have a high propensity to ring at high frequencies.( the old Focal titanium dome that was used in Wilson speakers was one of the worst offenders). Some folks are lucky enough not to hear this, unfortunately, I am not one of...

@petzzz  Congratulations, the TAD Micro Evo One's are a great sounding speaker. I would have gone for those as well over the SF G Traditions. Like you correctly remembered, the SF G Traditions really are not competitive with the GH's. Unfortunatel...

@ptrck887  I have no idea as to what ancillary gear you listened to the GH's with, BUT to say they are not 'highly resolving in any way' tells me that either a) you heard the GH's with a severe mismatch of the upstream gear, or b) you have never r...

@petzzz  Unfortunately, the newer Guaneri versions don't perform like the original does. The new Guarneri Tradition is not, at least IMO, in the same league as the original. Franco hit one out of the park with the GH's and the newer versions are j...
Went from brilliant to distortion
Sounds like something is overloading the NAD.

@petzzz  You mentioned your first choice would be the SF GH's. I would strongly suggest that you keep to that choice and wait for a pair to come available. While they are not common, IME they are going to be superior to what you are asking about.....
The very best sound: Direct to Disc
@rauliruegas  Agree that the Blue Mind title is very good...which leads me to have much higher expectations for the D2D. Since you apparently had the same expectations, I can see how this could lead to a let down! Compared to Flamenco Fever ( whic...
Does high end system with dedicated circuits need grounding products
@8th-note   Your post brings up a very good point. IME, a big wall sucking amp will almost always need a dedicated line. Not so much for the little flea powered or lower powered amp. The voltage sag that you mention is the culprit...which doesn't ...
