Does anyone manufacture an alternative Linn Sondek belt pulley ?
If you are getting belt slip, then I would suggest that there is something wrong with your Linn’s set up. I would recommend a trip to a Linn dealer who can do the set up correctly.
Honest question about cartridge vs. turntable performance.
Having owned a Technics Direct Drive SP10 mk2 and now a Linn, I think both tables can deliver good to great sound. The Technics was a table that I thought could sound a bit like digital at times, IOW a little sterile and dry sounding. The Linn, if...
Cartridge Opinions - Sorry
@klooker   The Linn philosophy with regards to tonearms seems to be that the ability to adjust azimuth is not important. Your Ittok has limited adjustability in regards to a number of set up parameters. Linn seems to think that the cartridge manuf...
Is a Linn Sondek LP12/Lingo/Ekos with a Cirkus update, the last turntable I’ll ever buy?
@lewm  Interesting perspective...now what is your analogy to the many tube amps that are on the market?
Honest question about cartridge vs. turntable performance.
@testpilot There have been two prior bearings for the Linn. The original and then the Cirkus. The new one called the Karousel attaches to the subchassis with a three point system. It is also more precisely machined to a mirror finish at the base. ...
Honest question about cartridge vs. turntable performance.
Linn has just updated the most important part of their turntable, and it is not the motor, the type of drive, the speed control, the tonearm or the suspension system. It is the bearing!!! Precision engineering in the bearing is actually where I be...
Linn LP12 ghost or power issue?
OP, your table should not turn on regardless of what power supply you are using if your on/off switch on the table is set to off. The fact that it did turn on, might indicate a few things, one that your power switch is faulty, or two, that you lef...
Is a Linn Sondek LP12/Lingo/Ekos with a Cirkus update, the last turntable I’ll ever buy?
@cd318  Like I stated in my prior post, I'm sure this is falling on deaf ears, but I would like to know how you know so much about what is, or is not, happening at Linn? Particularly when it comes to Gilad? When Ivor first designed the table, it cl...
Is a Linn Sondek LP12/Lingo/Ekos with a Cirkus update, the last turntable I’ll ever buy?
@lewm Lew, I am surprised that you would post such a comment! It would be more than easy for Linn to rebut all of this stuff, but they would be spending way way way too much time doing it, so why bother when it would fall on deaf ears anyway?I am ...
Esoteric SACD player owners, do you use the built in DAC or an external DAC and why?
I just use my DV60 as a stand alone unit. Since I primarily use it to playback redbook, I am more than pleased.
Is a Linn Sondek LP12/Lingo/Ekos with a Cirkus update, the last turntable I’ll ever buy?
@cd318  Your post should perhaps conclude with this: IMHO.Your 'opinion' is as stated, although I think you could say what you did about all turntables. In your humble opinion, Linn has been spinning the same 'guff for decades and decades'. In you...
Is a Linn Sondek LP12/Lingo/Ekos with a Cirkus update, the last turntable I’ll ever buy?
@rrm  would be helpful to know what model of LP12 ( age, power supply, bearing, tonearm, sub chassis etc) you are comparing to your Michell.
Looking for tonearm inspiration
@rauliruegas I had a real laugh the you mentioned other ’top’ a’philes using the old war horse SME 3012R! I used to own this tonearm, and let me tell you it is nothing special at all! The biggest issue is something called ’bearing chatter’...which...
Cartridge Opinions - Sorry
@tyray. You wrote this in your post:" I have a question for you. And this is not for arguments sake. I’m just curious. When a blank piece of vinyl is cut at the factory, in your opinion which is more important. The cartridge/stylus making the groov...
Cartridge Opinions - Sorry
@rauliruegas  What 'facts' have you given that the cartridge is more important in the hierarchy than the tonearm? It has been shown by Origin Live and others that the hierarchy is tonearm first and cartridge second. You don't believe this to be th...
