Linn Sondek LP-12 tonearm recommendations?
@rbtstock  The standard recommendation for an LP12 is the Linn Ekos arm and its variants. I use an arm that while not popular with the other Linnies is extremely good on this table, it is the WTA arm. The WTA is light enough to not interfere with ...

@mijostyn   The problem with just buying new LP's is the selection. There are numerous great LP's that have not been reissued, or are no longer available. I do agree with you that the likelihood of damage and wear is far greater with the used LP. ...

@antinn  Having collected LP's for decades, I can tell you that the typical used jazz and rock album is going to have significant issues..primarily from scratching and groove damage ( VG-VG++). You damage the groove with pits and scratches ( your ...
No-one talks about Rowlands anymore
I had a fellow a'phile over for a listening session yesterday. I was using just my Rowland 8T modded by Jeff. My tube amps were not active. I think the sound was still as great as ever and the amp was just easy on the ears. I really like the model...

@antinn  Thanks, that is very informative. One thing that I think is missing in this conversation is that IF one is buying old records ( flea market as an example) the potential for noise is going to be high, regardless of the cleaning regimen. S...

IMO, Ultrasonic cleaning is definitely an improvement over a basic wet vacuum cleaning. I had a very noisy RCA Direct to Disc that I had assumed was beyond hope, yet after the US cleaning, it was much quieter and is now very impressive. I do think...

How long does Class A have?
@bpoletti  Be nice... this is an audio forum, no need for politics.@mrmeaner  Perhaps a better question would be, how long does Class D have?
Nirvana sued over "Nevermind" cover photo
If the baby on the cover had never told anyone that his name was Spencer Elden, how many here believe that he would have risked been identified as an adult?

@stager   There is some concern that using alcohol on LP's can be quite detrimental. Alcohol is a drying agent, as such the potential to dry the vinyl and make it more brittle is a possibility. Possible damage to the groove wall would be the result.

I have a Kirmuss on loan right now. The Kirmuss method is as mentioned above, lengthy and involved. Therefore, i decided I wanted to see if the machine worked well with just distilled water and nothing else. At first, I had thought that the lack o...

Your favorite KT 150 based amplifier?
The new Jadis Mk 2 amps that utilize KT150's are superb.
Nordost users....time to upgrade!
@tablejockey  Now that's some bling!!! I would imagine that some lucky lad has convinced his better half that these need to be in his listening room, overlooking his garage full of Ferrari's and Lambo's.
