Jumper Cables - use the stock or should they be upgraded ?
Whilst we're on the subject, jumpers aside, different results may sometimes be obtained from connecting the single wires to the upper or lower set of binding posts.  Some do one upper and one lower.  It's worth a try.
Vinyl VS Digital
Not having a centered image can be caused by phase reversal, which makes everything appear diffused.  Usually, this happens when the speakers are connected incorrectly, but I guess it is possible for this to occur anywhere in the chain.  Check thi...
Your first component that was "special"
I think that my DCM Time Windows were my introduction to what we call high-end sound.  I remember them being really good.  I also remember getting a Denon 103 cartridge for my Technics tt, which was a revelation compared to the moving magnets I'd ...
Jumper Cables - use the stock or should they be upgraded ?
I would never have believed it, but changing the jumpers may change the sound. When I had my Harbeth SHL5's, changing to Audience AU24 jumpers cleaned up the somewhat boomy bottom end I was experiencing and made the bass pitches much more defined....
Wave Kinetics NVS Reference Turntable Review on Positive Feedback
Thank you for posting.  It is truly a work of art.  I'm surprised you didn't try the Durand record clamp as well.  Just out of curiosity, in all honesty, how many units do you think will sell worldwide over the next five years?  Despite the expens...
Best amp for natural timbre of unamplified acoustic instruments & vocals w/ Revel F32?
If those speakers sound that way, IMO, it's because they are just not working in your room.  In a typical domestic environment, It has always been my experience that some speakers work and some don't and it's trial and error until you find somethi...
linn lp 12 parts
Try Ebay.  As far as what else needs to be replaced, you need to see whether the sub chassis was bent and if the table balances properly after setup.
Please Recommend Audiophile Solo Piano Recordings
Nightfall, on the Naim label, while not quite solo, has one of the best piano sounds I've heard captured in a recording.  Very real.  You get Charley Hayden thrown in on upright bass for free. The music is a bit too much "new-age noodling" for my ...
Speakers with external parts, gimmicks or serious?
I believe Wilson provides resistor kits to allow the user to tailor the frequency response to some degree.  Nothing new.
Viva, no longer a fan
Does this mean that Viva will not service anything purchased on the used market, period?  Or does it just mean that it will not service something that was not initially purchased from a Viva dealer?  Sumiko has always had a policy of not providing...
Clamp or Weight Suggestions for a MMF9.1
I second the Herbies mat on my Music Hall MMF5.  I could not believe the difference.  But it totally screwed up my Linn, so there you go.  Buy one and return it if you don't like it.
Are wood crates like Crosley safe for LP's?
I don't understand this.  Regardless of the height, once you put the first record in, the others are supported by the records behind them, not the crate.  So if the height matters, just put a thin piece of plywood or cardboard the size of a record...
Are there headphones that image in front of you rather than in your head?
I am not a headphone lover, but I found that the Grado GS1000s present a very open, airy presentation that resembles listening to real speakers in an acoustic environment.  The downside it that, like a normal system, you need a very quiet area to ...
Which cartridge should I upgrade to now?
I don't think anything you're talking about will be as good as the Shelter.  The Denons are OK, but that's about it.  Personally, in the budget range, I think the Goldring Eroica is very good and I know it works well in Rega arms.  Good luck.
Just how much do speakers suppose to vibrate?
Every speaker cabinet, indeed everything, vibrates at some frequency.  Speaker designers create cabinets which can move the vibrations to different areas of the spectrum to contour the sound to their idea of what it should be.  Companies like Wils...
