one-box solution
I've owned the NAD L-40 and the Linn Classik. You get what you pay for. The L-40 is decent enough but the Linn creams it so it all depends on your needs. Vocals are smoother with the Linn and bass is definitely more controlled.
Speakers for Secondary Adcom System
The Spendor small monitors are very musical and not so critical of the brightness that usually accompanies Adcom gear.
Who makes half size transports thes days?
Cyrus does make a shoebox transport. Check their website.
Reciever Questions. Thiels.
First reviewer is correct in power demands of the Thiels. IF you must stay with a receiver the Luxman 1120A ($350 used) will drive these well. Rated at 120wpc and loads of amperage it will bench at about 160wpc and sounds marvelous. I've heard min...
Speakers to make even Raffi sound good?
SuperZeroes are great. More bulletproof are the Rock Solids which are also for outdoor use so no grill to be messed with and will survive Silly Putty attacks and spilled Kool-Aid. Also sound decent.
Eric Bibb fans?
The old Opus 3 "River Road" is classic. Out-of-Print 2 channel tape which sounds marvelous. If you are nice I'll send you a burned copy.
Power cable for tube output cdp
LAT International and Signal Cable work well.
What's a decent, current used transport?
CEC/Parasound units are truly nearly unbeatable. I cannot buy into the belt drive thing for digital, but I've owned a highly modified Parasound CDT 2000 and it was unbelievable for analog sound. Top loader so my wife hated it, but sound..........M...
What do you look for in damping factor?
Specific to your Maggies, damping factor is a factor as the panels really do need to be controlled. In my day of selling audio we took in a pair of Maggies and they sounded dreadful with everything in the store they had tried. When I found out we ...

Bose Wave Music system
You're not just fishing for enraged responses are you? Anyway, the Onkyo CS 210 all in one tuner/amp/CD and speakers will scorch this at just under $200 shipped. Speakers are the weakest part so you can spend $150 on used somthing like Paradigm At...
system interconnect thoughts
Chris,Hard to beat Signal Cable stuff for this price range. I've owned/own all Kimber and Signal Cable pieces mentioned above. Kimber is very good, Signal I think is more open. Not a fan of MF. Not bad, just not great either. Look into some true E...
any thoughts on Antique Sound Labs amps
These are solid pieces for the most part with well thought out topography and conservatively driven tubes unlike some builders who drive them too hard for dynamics. The smaller amps usually sound better than the larger one. Good luck.
suggest an integrated tube amp for me
You are correct, should have kept the Rogue. I've ran them well with my now sold VTL Tiny Triodes at 45wpc. It was magic. Sold mine for $1000, so another set might show up and then a preamp to go.
English Speakers
I've owned Rogers, understand your pain. Would highly recommend the Spendor 3/5s as they are very musical, have that smooth midrange, carry a bit more dynamics.
