Upgrade from Technics 1200 MK2? $1-$1.5k budget ANY unstable movement in the arm, any looseness in the headshell, any play in the arm bearings, any non-rigid components in the chain must be eliminated. IMO, not to mince words, your planned corrective action to your existing arm is a silk purse ...
Upgrade from Technics 1200 MK2? $1-$1.5k budget Wow, that's one great table to set aside because of a fiddly arm. I'd re-plinth the table and get a different arm. With your budget, have you considered a Jelco 750L (12") arm? Otherwise, you're likely to spend Over $3000 even in the used market t...
VPI Classic---Denon 103 won't fit on arm?? I'm using Herron Audio cables between my Aries / JMW0-12 and phono stage with very good results. Cart is LOMC AT-OC9/II.
VPI Prime, what would your Cartridge and Phono be? Used Herron VTPH-1mc and an AT-OC9/II. Should come in around $2k. Very solid combo.
Addendum to Onkyo has a very interesting CD player, the C-7030. Some people hate it, more people love it. I suggest listening to see if it meets with your expectations. At its price (<$200 at Amazon.com) it's hard to pass.
Help me improve Rega P2 @Ilik - That's the funniest post I've seen in years. LP12s are more colored than an art museum.
Help me improve Rega P2 The best way to improve a Rega P2 is to:1. Remove the power cord from the table.2. Move the table top another location.3. Move a VPI Classic 3 to the position originally taken by the Rega. Make sure VPI table is level.4. Attempt to plug the power ...
Good sounding Deutsche Grammophon recordings The Paganini Concerto collection, I can't recall the title of the album or the violinist, is a superb DG recording. I just don't have it. I believe the title is something like "Paganini Diabolique" or similar. Terrific performances and (IMO) the b...

Which of these 4 Phono Pre you'dl choose? I would have to agree that the Herron VTPH-2 is the choice at any price point. That said, Herron does take VTPH-1 units in on trade. IMO, a used VTPH-1 in your price range is the very best bang for the buck and still an excellent choice in most pr...
Entry level Phono Stage for Dynavector 10x5 IMO, a Herron VTPH-1 is in a completely different category than others around its used price range. It might be worth a call to Keith Herron to see if he has any used VTPH-1 units he has taken in trade.
Lyra Delos or Helicon versus Soundsmith Zephyr I've got an original Aries Extended with a JMW-12 arm. I used to use a Clavis da Capo but switched to an AT OC9/II. My preference for the OC9/II is based on its weight and richness in the low frequency compared to the CdC. I know the CdC is a thin...

upgrade advice from a Linn LP12 If you think your Linn is good, then just go listen to other rigs to see what you like. It shouldn't take long to find something better.
Step up from AT150MLX on Technics 1200 If you are generally satisfied with the AT150MLX, you might want to consider an AT 33EV with a suitable step up device. For an AT, it's a bit warm. |
