Which phono preamps among these three?
have you auditioned a Herron VTPH-2?
Any Herron VTPH-2 Phono Stage Owners out there?
BNpd24 - I'm very interested in a Decca cart. How does it sound, especially with the modified VTPH-1?

Spend as much as you want, try all the phono stages you'd like in your system. Broken record or not, I'm here to tell you the VTPH-2 is the very best phono stage I've ever heard. I haven't heard anything better.I don't mind taking criticism about ...

I'd suggest test driving a Herron VTPH-2 phono stage and a VTSP-2 line stage.

Thorens TD 160-significant upgrade possible $1500?
My opinion is that you have a good basic set-up. The weak link seems to be the Grado cartridge. Replacing it with a decent medium or high output moving could cartridge could be just what you're looking for with out breaking the bank. A Denon DL-11...

How can a cartridge be autoloaded when the manufacturer specifies a particular load to voice a cartridge? (Sounds like more audio hooey and snake oil to me.)
Soundsmith Phono-Pre, Any comments?
Good for you. Please let us know your impressions and how well it mates up with your cartridge.
VPI, Graham, Koetsu advice please
Larryi - that's a good point. The two carts are pretty much on the opposite ends of the listening preference scale. A Koetsu will never sound like a Lyra unless both are parked on the arm rest.
Soundsmith Phono-Pre, Any comments?
Look it up, chack. Plenty of posts by me and others making comparisons.
Soundsmith Phono-Pre, Any comments?
Quoted the wrong text. It should have been "I'm still contemplating the the plus and minus of going the Soundsmith route or spending a lot extra for something with more flexibility that might suit some future cartridge whim."
Soundsmith Phono-Pre, Any comments?
I was relating back to your previous post where you said "However, it also points out the big dilemma, $3650 for a great pre and future flexibility vs $650 for a pre that is probably well voiced for my current cart." I read that as saying that you...
