Steamer upgrade? Follow up follow up Steamer? This is not a forum for antique boats.
I have NOVA V's and I am not happy Lots of people have speakers that are too big for the room they use. Carpeting or hard floor? Ceiling treatment? Lots of ways to alter the sound. Changing cables will only do so much. Kimber 8tc is not bright in my system.
Who says studio monitors are "cold and analytical"? Where is Millercarbon when you need him? All you need to do is buy the speakers that you like the most.
Not sure what to think or do... If you also have any new interconnects or speaker cables, try swapping your old ones in and see if that is the problem. Some brands of cables are notorious for long break-in times.
Too much power? The maggie 1.7 is a fine speaker, but you need at least 150 watts to drive them to their potential. I moved up to the 3.7's and they sound better with 250 watts.
DAC league table I, too, am considering a new DAC. The EISA award for this category was a Musical Fidelity unit that sells for $2199. I have a CD play from MF circa 1998 and it has a way to make even bad CD's sound great. I would love to audition it if there wa...
Vinyl record cleaning I use a Record Doctor with Mofi Superwash. The records sound about the same, but boy, do they shine!
If there was only ONE album/cd/release you can listen to, over and over............. I would go bonkers if I had only one album to listen to. Anybody watch "Groundhog day" where the clock/radio played "I got you babe"every day? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
What am I missing? I have to give a slight edge to modern CD's over streaming CD quality files. 24/96 is usually a step up, and anything higher rez is overdone, IMO. Most of my older CD's [pre 2000] are OK in the car, but a no-go in my system.
Best Amps for Magneplanar 1.7i Speakers You want a minimum of 150 watts to sound decent. More is better. Like 250.
My Amp is good but probably the weak point Klipsch is big on volume and sensitivity, more so than a beautiful, accurate sound. Hard for me to recommend a specific brand, there are so many to choose from and too many variables such as room size and amplifier power. But it sure helps to go...
To upgrade, or not to upgrade, that is the question I have a Bel Canto E1 streamer running into Hegel H360 integrated, Maggie 3.7's and Velodyne sub DD12. I am pretty happy the with the SQ, just wondering if screwing around with internet connections would be worth looking into. I see once ag...
The big Gensis are back, but what about Arion? Whichever you choose, Linestage speakers rule, as long as you have the space to let them breathe .Some of the best I heard at Axpona were linestages. They beat some of the megabuck speakers I heard.
Open Baffle Experience #carlsbad. I too was intrigued be the EP features [no box to distort sound]. So at a show I heard them set up in a hotel room. Hmmm. Maybe they were not set up properly, but I was not impressed at all. The sound coming out of the front was OK ...
Dedicated Electrical Use a 20 amp breaker fuse and put nothing else on that line, Hopefully you have an unused slot in the breaker box..... |
