Jazz for aficionados
@stuartk  I try. I have many friends that go down the equipment rabbit hole and get lost. I thank my wife for keeping me grounded as we often listen together. I love Herbie Hancock as I remember seeing him, for the first time, during his 'Rockit...
I see the issue with ABX blind testing
@tonywinga Everyone knows Red cars are faster and sexier 🤣 Sorry - couldn't help it.

@curiousjim  I am always looking. I troll around Bandcamp a lot and find some unique artists and music there.  I am one that actively searches out music.  My audio equipment is there to play for my habit of buying music 😁
I see the issue with ABX blind testing
@tonywinga If you ACTUALLY watched the video, what the YT person said was true about the Danny test. Since he was in the room when switching cables, that can be seen a even a slight biasing of the results. The other thing, if you look at DBT, they...
I see the issue with ABX blind testing
@jetter Because people DON'T want to know the truth about what they spend. It seems much of this hobby is about ego, more than just music reproduction. That is all these systems do. The Deal blind test was a flawed one because he never left the ro...
Why all or most audiophiles are men?
@maguiar102 I don't buy anything without my partner listening with me. She gets sick of the chest-beating men, who seem to have something to prove with their systems. She also has BETTER ears than me, hence why her opinion is important as we like ...
Cool running, low powered power amp
I find the Benchmark amp everything that has been said about it, in this thread. A third recommendation.

@soix I have eaten blindfolded before. My wife took me once to a restaurant that specialized in blindfolded dining. It was to say an eye-opening experience. I didn't appreciate it at the time, but on reflection should have appreciated the lesson t...
What if a high end speaker measures really badly?
I have heard the Devore O series speakers. They are just terrible to me. And the latest from Devore, his 44K USD O that is out, at AXPONA, sounded like a tin radio. Down the hall they had the mini O's playing driven by a Naim Unity which sounded 1...
Benchmark Media Systems. Right or wrong
@audphile1 See, you are comparing playing music with music REPRODUCTION, which is two different things. I want my system to convey exactly what was recorded by the artist. To me that is accuracy and yes it will convey the emotion that the artist p...
I see the issue with ABX blind testing
@tonywinga I have no anxiety at all. In fact, I have none. I was just saying much of what audiophiles actually hear is this bias. I care less what people spend their money on.
Whats playing on your system today?
Current - Gilad Hekselman - Life, at the Village Vanguard - an amazing live album.
Jazz for aficionados
Currently listening to Gilad Hekselman - Life, at the Village Vanguard. Such a beautiful live LP, if one lives guitar jazz. I highly recommend it. It is a 2024 LP.
Audio Research Pre-Amp advice
I have an Audio Research SP-16, which I recommend due to the tubes used. This pre-amp uses 12AX7 tubes which are inexpensive, and many brands make them. It also works flawlessly with most amps I have - it is also only single ended though.

@tonywinga Then enjoy. The point being our brain is a bias machine. That is what it does as it is a survival mechanism. Realize the placebo affect can be so strong that people believing that a sugar pill is the strongest opioid in the world, will ...
