Any Royd speaker fans out there?
I have a set of Royd Doublets - actually the last ones that were for sale in North America. What amazing speakers!! THe doublets really out performed away the competition, IMHO, when I was auditioning speakers. The list was: VA Beethovens, Linn Ni...
Small floorstander recommendations
I have listened to the VA Bachs and found them very thumpy and loose in the bass department - not really what I expected from them.Another one to listen to is the Linn Ninka's - beautiful speaker cabinets!Dave
Small floorstander recommendations
It is a sad fact that you cannot find Royd Doublets anymore - they stopped producung them. I have a pair and they are amazing for a small floorstanding speaker. It will give many all you have mentioned a run for their money. I bought a pair for 13...

Quality of Stereophile Class A speakers at 2K?
I feel there is a 'snob' fest going on at Stereophile. I have listened to some of there rated 'class A' speakers and found them wholely lacking. I also notice they mainly rate the really expensive speakers higher than most of the lower end speaker...

Upgrade my Monitor audio Studio 12
What size is your room? What equipment do you have?I could certainly suggest speakers to try - the new Monitor Audio Silver S line is a great place to start - big improvement over older lines. You could try JMLabs Cobalt line - very efficient but ...
Speakers to hang on to for LIFE
It is interesting to read everyone posts/opinions. I really don't think speaker design has really changed much - materials on the cones, maybe, but they are basically put together in the same way. It still is an art to design a speaker properly. A...

How long it take to run in brand new loudspeaker?
I recently heard the new Monitor Audio Silver S line of speakers and they sounded fantastic right out of the box. I mean they were unpacking them before I listened to them. There have been many threads on different forums on this exact topic and I...

Linn's Ninka speaker: Anyone heard it??
I have heard the Ninka's on an all Linn system and was surprised by the muddiness of sound (was playing Bela Fleck and the Flecktones - Outbound). Many of the instruments got lost or couldn't hear them. They were much better, though, than the Vien...

AV receiver for 4 ohm speakers?
The switches are actually small resistors that you can move in and out of the electrical path. They may change the way your speakers sound - don't use them. It is a cheesy way to get your 4 ohm speakers look 8 ohm to your amp.My old H-K 795i recei...
