Some thoughts on ASR and the reviews
@mahgister Agree partially. I feel there are cultists on both sides and there is trench between them and that is usually where I find myself. They are both right and wrong at the same time. If they would listen to each other instead of talking ov...
Jazz for aficionados
@curiousjim Here is another - The Messthetics and James Brandon Lewis It is not for everyone as members of the Messthetics are from the band Fugazi. When in the right mood, it is a fantastic listen.

@dwcda Then it is an audiophile forum. It seems that is all audiophiles do, like their life's depend on being right. I get the exact same feeling from this forum, and that is the point. One needs to ignore the yellers and passive-aggressive people...

@rischa  yes - the SPDIF connections, for me sound lifeless - I have not tried the ethernet connection so I cannot comment.

@tonywinga Actually - I think it is YOU that takes yourself too serious. Amir is doing a service by measuring equipment. He used his own money to buy the equipment. What is wrong with that? I don't go to ASR, maybe once a year or so, but WOW. I ...

@tonywinga because he is entitled to his opinion. Just like you are. Don't like his opinion, don't read it. No one is forcing you. Ever hear the phrase, 'Thou dost protest too much"? It seems many audiophiles are scared of what Amir is saying. I...
Some thoughts on ASR and the reviews
@tonywinga Amir, I believe was involved audio codecs in MS Windows, so he has some expertise in sound, etc. Amir could correct me, if I am wrong. What audio device HAVE YOU designed? Since you are throwing shade, it is just fair. Amir is using a...
Gustard R26
All I use. It works great and sounds great. It is more optimized for USB, as it uses the same USB chip that is used in other Gustards and SMSL.
I see the issue with ABX blind testing
@audphile1 I was the lab manager and fermentation expert at a distillery. We had to be trained for tasting. The American Distillers Institute has classes on it. They use base flavors and fragrances to train with. This way, one can use the same des...

It will be a chat, listen, maybe eat and drink affair.  You have been to my place. So you know, we enjoy people chatting and enjoying themselves. I will make sure my friend, who was at the Christmas get together will not be there.  Dave

I drive all over the Chicago area as my parents live in Lemont. I can get around. Let me know people about getting together -I am more of a chill and relaxed person. Dave sevenonetwo sevennineoh seventwothreeeight

@mahgister None of it is standardized. Even in Grad School there was some standardization. Same with working in a distillery - tasting panels are standardized and they basically look for certain things. There is NONE of that in audiophiledom, peri...

Well, to the 'Golden ears' how were you trained? When I think of training of the senses, I think of how Sommeliers are trained. They are trained on taste, smell, grape, terrior, etc. They are all trained the same way. No audiophile is trained that...
I see the issue with ABX blind testing
@soix Sorry you feel that way. I am a trained scientist and I know how skewed our internal system is. As I said, it is part and parcel of our survival mechanism. I do not trust ’golden ears’ because they are just as biased as the rest of us and a...
