Jazz Musician's Sonic Signature Phil Woods, too. Oh, and who can't pick out Toots Thielman?
ARC Preamp going to full volume Ouch get that puppy back to ARC asap.
Looking for drivers for Fried Beta and Q5's? I have seen them on ebay quite often, but you'll probably have to buy the speakers to get the drivers (I am a long-time Fried devotee and the Q5s are fine speakers). BTW, the Betas and the Q5s went out of production (to my knowledge) in the 90s.
Improving bass from a front ported speaker Agree. Plugging the port will skew the balance and literally make your speakers sound "congested," especially for male vocals, tenor sax, cello, etc.
Equalizers-Using to compensate for hearing loss Broadstone,I have a ton of experience with the Behringer Ultra-Curve Pro DEQ 24/96 in use with an all Quicksilver/Spendor system and recommend it. I use it extensively to compensate for my hearing loss in my left ear (tragic story). It is undetect...
First Post Looking for Integrated Amplifier Justin,Welcome to the madness, and look for a well cared for NAD receiver or integrated with phono inputs (avoid the T-series, however, as they have reliability issues). I would get one right here on AG, not the Bay. These amps sound GREAT, are we...
Advice on speakers for a vintage system This is a killer little system you have, and you should count yourself very lucky indeed. I would personally avoid vintage speakers unless you know they have been thoroughly checked out. If you go new or used, just make sure they are tube friendly...
KEF LS50 Need Help Used Spendor SP1/2s or SP 2/3s just the ticket.
Recommend an Entry Level Turntable I like my Rega RP1. It's simple, requires no tinkering once set up, and sounds very balanced.
New Quickview Feature: Huh? Sigh...
NAD T973 vs NAD 275BEE You might want to do some research on the T-series in terms of their reliability. I had some repairs done, and the shop got so many of the T's that they eventually refused to work on them.
Solid State to replace Audio Research REF110? I agree don't give up on tubes, but go to a different brand that is more reliable and will not blow up on you. I have used Quicksilver amps (no PCBs) since 2006 and have had zero problems with the exception of a bad tube here or there. I had one t...
HELP WANTED Paradigm Monitor series pricing 55-65% of original retail for these speakers in excellent condition is reasonable, but you will need to determine original retail. I have a pair of 3se's, and I can tell you that they are superb sounding speakers. Yes, the Studios are "better," bu...
Thinking About A Change Never, and I repeat, never purchase speakers blind. This has REGRET written all over it! You know you love your current speakers, and though the Legacy's might (might) have better bass, they also may do something you really do not like.
Integrated tube amp has no bass Cayin A50T "Not too many tube amps have bass" please. There are tons of tube amps that have awesome bass. Nicdob, you have a great little amp that is very capable of bass, and I would NOT sell it. Exhaust other options first. |
