Mcintosh mc275 or rogue m150/180
If you really like the Sixpacs, enjoy them. The grass is not always greener, my friend.
Devore or Harbeths to replace my ESL63s?
Go with the 30.1's…a no brainer.
Hearing issues and signal attenuation
Take it from someone who has spent untold hours searching for a solution. Do this: Buy a Beringher Ultracurve Pro DEQ 2496. It is very affordable, dead quiet, and will achieve precisely what you want. It allows you to adjust in .5dB increments and...
Thanksgiving: ......
"I give thanks for my Spendor 1/2Es, for they reproduce mids like no other speaker. I give thanks, too, for my Quicksilver pre, which is reliable, simple, and wonderful sounding. And last, I give thanks for my First Watt M2, a Nelson Pass creation...
Quality system, make poor recordings sound better?
IMO, the ultimate goal is to find a combination of components that allows one to enjoy as many discs as possible, price be damned. Those of us who have been in this hobby long enough know this!
Most enduring audio purchase
Fried A/3s bought in 1992 and my little NAD 7225PE from 1991…still rock the house and as strong as ever.

OK, let's cut the politics, shall we? People are here to learn about tubes.
best CD player new or used for $1200
Am listening to Mark Knopfler on my Marantz CD6005 as we speak, and it sounds damn good. Just got it 2 days ago ($500) and am super impressed smooth, engaging, and balanced thru my FirstWatt/Quicksilver set up. I'd check it out before putting down...
Gov't Mule last night....much better than stereo
Yep, Govt Mule is killer live, and I agree their discs don't do them justice (it's all in the BASS)!
Amp Suggestion for Harbeth C7es3
My experience with the MiniMites on my Spendor SP2/3s (an easier load than your Harbeths) was not enough headroom. They reached a ceiling fairly quickly where they became compressed. With my 90db Fried A/3s, they were a bit more friendly, however....
