Fried A-3 speakers
Trelja,I appreciate the schematic offer but no longer have the A6s. I actually have the schematic, and I sold them to a friend who made his own. In retrospect, I should have kept them but had lost my job and moving to an appt that had no room for ...
Fried A-3 speakers
I also had a pair of A6s and would have them to this day had I room in my collection. I also sent my A6 crossovers to someone in Charlotte, NC who was to build new ones (previous owner had modified them). He kept them and the $250 worth of crossov...
Fried A-3 speakers
Jperry,I have owned 2 pair of A3s now for almost 10 years and can tell you quite a bit. First, they are superbly balanced IMO, being neither too forward, bright, dark, etc. The extend to 38Hz on paper but don't sound that low, more like 45-50 to m...
Com'on...confess..........
Yeah, I happen to like The Church as well...a bit underestimated IMO.
Audio Stores in Virginia Beach, VA area?
Yep, traveled there for 4 years on business, and there used to be one on Highway 13 (Military Trail) of I-64 who sold Rega, Mac, and I think Linn, but it may not still be there. I was not super impressed, but it was not that bad.
Do I have a "balance" problem?
Yeah, probably your hearing if you've done everything suggested. I went into a depression after my hearing was shot in my left ear (someone blew a kazoo into my ear at a bar at point blank range)...I use a digital EQ to "fix" it, but listening wil...
One artist, band, you keep coming back to
Miles and Pink Floyd/Gilmour (OK, that was two)... true desert island artists.
Oh, the frustrations of the speaker search
Two words: "Used Frieds" available often on the Bay. They are not sexy, but they will do everything you want and more. If you can grad a pair of A3s, Q4s, or Q5s, you will love them guaranteed.
Daft punks RAM on vinyl
These guys spare no expense in their production. To learn more about the daft duo, check out Rolling Stone's recent article...a decent read.
All in one brand, please help
Ditto for the TEAC...it's ideal.
Polk Audio
I've never heard a bad-sounding Polk, though I have only heard 4 models. I listened to a helluva lot of Grateful Dead and Miles back in college on my friend's Polks (5A Juniors or something like that), and though not as transparent as my Fried Q5s...
System Opinion, Fritz and AVA
I think this combo sounds superb on paper...very good mix of gear. But why not order the new AVA EL34-based amp as well and do a tube vs. SS comparison? You might be surprised at how well the tubes do with the Fritz.
Kevin gets the
Not sure if they are still on AudioReview.com, but for a long time there were many "reviews" of Kevin's lines that all mentioned Upscale Audio. The funny thing is that the writing style for all of the reviews was identical...same phrases, sentence...
Anyone try this way to wire your loudspeakers?
"Good speakers use good wires."Tell that to Spencer and Derek Hughes and legions of other speaker designers who have designed the world's finest speakers! The key to great sound is called "design," not "cable."
Why does most new music suck?
Ditto for Radio Pardise...I listen to it on my iPhone connected to my rig, and their selection is superb. The cool thing is you can bookmark your fans.
