Has anyone compared Rogue RP-7 to Cary SLP05 and / or Audio Research Ref 5se?
This thread has piqued my curiosity. So for those "in the know", how does the SLP05 measure up with, say, an ARC Reference line stage, say the Ref 3 or Ref 5 SE, or even the older Ref 2 mk II? Lots of ARC Reference preamps available on the used ...
Joseph Audio Pulsar 2 Graphene Placement & Break-In?
I have Pulsar 2 Graphene's in a medium sized room.  I have them positioned about 5 feet from the front wall.  They do not have too much bass in my installation.  I would say they sound like they measure in the Stereophile review: very even respons...
New arm for TW Acustic Raven one
Consider an Audiomods Series 6.  I currently use a 10.5" version on a Feickert Volare with great results.  It costs about $1700 direct from manufacturer in GB and IMO a great value at that price.  Jeff Spall is very responsive via email and will g...
Looking for a new (preowned OK) line stage under $5K: suggestions?
Thanks for all the suggestions! A big problem with this system is that the listening area features A LOT of glass, a design feature to showcase wonderful mountain views that cannot be compromised.  Additionally, ceiling height in the listening ar...
Reed 5T Opinions
Don't know specifically about the Reed 5T, but I can say from experience that I'm getting great results with a Reed 3P, in conjunction with an Ortofon Windfeld Ti cartridge.  Tracking is fantastic, very clean sound.  Plus, it's beautiful to the ey...
Wadax Reference Dac and Reference Server--arrived in my room.
This thread is interesting as I've been wondering how far to go with digital? At a much lower level than Mike, my Hi Fi Rose 150 sounds very good but not at the level of my TT rig, which admittedly costs 4 times more. Mike, you answered the ques...
Technics SL-1500C or SL-1210GR
It's a slippery slope.  For my second system, I originally was planning for a $2500 or so front end. Turned out to be closer to $6K with my Feickert Volare, Audiomods 6, Hana ML set up.  Love it! Technics 1200G  plays in a different league than ...
Speaker positioning: why do audiophiles neglect this so much?
Someone asked for some basics from Jim Smith: First, determine the optimum listening position in the room by determining where bass response is best (most even, not at a null).  Instrumentation can help here. Next, relative to the listening spot...
From Benz to?
Third vote for a Winfield Ti.  After a Benz Ruby then a Ruby Z, I simply cannot believe how good the Ortofon is: beautiful tonality, extremely clean sound with  amazing tracking. Very low output though, high gain phono required. Good luck!
Speaker positioning: why do audiophiles neglect this so much?
Rough crowd here.  Guess I touched a nerve! Of course one cannot tell how a system sounds by viewing photo's.  What one CAN see, however, is that many such systems are FAR from optimized within a space. Some basics: Don't place the speakers too...
looking to match a new speaker to ARC REF75se
Agree with the Devore suggestion.  Consider Nola as well, or Joseph Audio.
Speaker positioning: why do audiophiles neglect this so much?
I agree with the comment about reviewers, BTW.  Fremer is a classic case, giant speakers stuffed into a small listening space.  He claims it sounds good.  Really?  Bet it would all sound much better in an optimized space.
Speaker positioning: why do audiophiles neglect this so much?
Back to my main point: why obsess about equipment when what is currently in use is operating at, say, 60% of it's potential? What does it matter what if a new cable, cartridge, preamp or speaker can bring another 5 - 10% improvement in sound, whe...
Speaker positioning: why do audiophiles neglect this so much?
Then why are so many systems poorly set up? As an example: why is most equipment (racks, cabinets, etc) situated between the speakers?  Classic number one no no according to Smith.

Me too!  My Pontus II sounds so good! Great value IMO.
