Which ARC ref linestage to try: Ref3, Ref5, Ref5SE? HATE forward sounding systems Some people do not read carefully. I stated that my Ref 5SE is more forward than my Ref 2 mk II. That does not mean that it is forward overall, just that it is more neutral than the older unit - which, by comparison, is less neutral by being a t...
The new Borresen M1's...a new direction? I heard the M1's recently at my local dealer. They ARE fantastic sound wise. Very nice aesthetically as well. $100K way too much for me, however. I could see $30K though. Also heard the Z2. Also great sound, maybe not quite to same lev...
Which ARC ref linestage to try: Ref3, Ref5, Ref5SE? HATE forward sounding systems I have 2 ARC Reference line stages, a Ref 2 and a Ref 5SE. The older unit is warmer and more recessed. The newer unit is more transparent, dynamic and more forward; the 5SE also has better bass. Both create a huge soundstage and are wonderful i...
Starting from Basically Scratch. Help me power some Wilson Watt Puppys I have the W/P 7's. Recommend the Parasound A21+ in your price range. Slightly warm but good sounding and powerful amp. The Wilson's like current, would stay away from the smaller class D or British units. Used Pass might work too but more cos...
End Game Turntable suggestions +1 I have a Feickert Volare, a SOTA Star III (vintage) as well as a TW Acustic Raven. All are better than any Rega IMO. Have no experience with Acoustic Solid. The TW is on another level above the others I own, as it should be as it costs 2X ...
What's your favorite $5-7000 turntable? I have SOTA, Feickert, and TW Acustic TT's. SOTA great for isolation but Feickert are more quiet. Like the latter more than Clearaudio. Volare great for the money. Good luck!
Wilson Sasha W/P amplifier pairing The tweeter in the Sasha 1's is the older inverted titanium tweeter. It is good but can be a little harsh/edgy with some material and in some set ups. How do I know? Because i have owned W/P 7's for 17 years (same tweeter). Didn't really recog...
Speaker Suggestions $30K Sasha DAW competitor? I was looking in that price range a few years ago. Had Wilson Watt/Puppy 7's, which have the same tweeter as the Sasha 1's. The contenders were: Von Schweikert VR 44's and 55's, YG Haley 2's, Sasha DAW's, Rockport Avia 2's, Magico A5's, Marten'...
Speaker Placement and Toe-In Ozzy, thought you had Magico M6's? Guess that was someone else .....
Best turntable for the buck Another to consider is a Dr Feickert Volare with Origin Live arm, $4K without cartridge. It is smaller than a SOTA and requires an isolated platform. It is dead quiet in operation (more quiet than the SOTA). I've owned 2 SOTA's over the last 35...
Opportunity to buy Demo Magico M2? Nyev, My A5's are positioned 9 feet into a 29 foot long room, also 16 feet wide and with 10 foot ceilings. Break in was not a major factor, sound was good from the off, though improved some with use. Every room has a different sound, so sometim...
Opportunity to buy Demo Magico M2? Have the A5 driven by ARC Reference preamp and Pass class A mono's. Had multiple sets of Wilson's prior. The A5 is a very good speaker for the money (still expensive). In my room, careful positioning leads to amazingly large stage and ample but...
Looking for a new (preowned OK) line stage under $5K: suggestions? OK after the suggestions and some research, narrowed my options to the following: New: Backert Labs Rhumba 1.3 EAR 868 Cary SLP98 Used: Audio Research Reference 2 or 3 VAC Renaissance Conrad Johnson ET5 I kinda prefer new as the used unit...
Zavfino Fusion versus Cardas Clear/Refection: anyone compare? Yes I recognize the price difference. So far I've not been able to.reliably determine why some cables cost much more. I'm interested in Cardas due to Jeff Joseph. I have some experience with Zavfino, quite positive so far ...
