Speaker positioning: why do audiophiles neglect this so much? Rough crowd here. Guess I touched a nerve! Of course one cannot tell how a system sounds by viewing photo's. What one CAN see, however, is that many such systems are FAR from optimized within a space. Some basics: Don't place the speakers too...
looking to match a new speaker to ARC REF75se Agree with the Devore suggestion. Consider Nola as well, or Joseph Audio.
Speaker positioning: why do audiophiles neglect this so much? I agree with the comment about reviewers, BTW. Fremer is a classic case, giant speakers stuffed into a small listening space. He claims it sounds good. Really? Bet it would all sound much better in an optimized space.
Speaker positioning: why do audiophiles neglect this so much? Back to my main point: why obsess about equipment when what is currently in use is operating at, say, 60% of it's potential? What does it matter what if a new cable, cartridge, preamp or speaker can bring another 5 - 10% improvement in sound, whe...
Speaker positioning: why do audiophiles neglect this so much? Then why are so many systems poorly set up? As an example: why is most equipment (racks, cabinets, etc) situated between the speakers? Classic number one no no according to Smith.
DENAFRIPS DAC ---- Owner Impressions, Feedback, General Discussion, Questions and more.... Me too! My Pontus II sounds so good! Great value IMO.
Magico A5, Wilson SabrinaX, or PS Audio FR30? I've heard the Sabrina X as well as the Sasha's. Have not heard the PS Audio or the Rockports. Bought and installed the A5's about a month ago. So far, they sound amazing! For those that have not heard this Magico, it is not the least thin sou...
Hana Umami Red or Lyra Kleos? Agree with tablejockey. A Hana ML would be a good match for the listed system. A Lyra Delos would be more clinical tonally, with more apparent detail and dynamics. The Delos is a little more "hi fi" sounding, to my ears. The Kleos and Unami...
Audiomods Tonearm..... Agree with above assessment. Have had my Audiomods 6 on my new Feickert Volare about a month. The arm is fantastic, very high quality and function for the price. The feel is wonderful; my Hana ML tracks great with this arm. No brainer for t...
which turntable for the future? Consider a TW Acustic Raven. Add a Wheaton Triplanar or a Reed arm. With a top flight cartridge, the combination will sound and look beautiful. And, it won't need frequent fussing and adjustments. Keep your current TT as a back up BTW, not ...
Wilson Watt Puppy 7…Would it work for me? I have W/P 7's. Be aware that in the bass the impedance drops to the 2 ohm range. Make sure your amps are suited to that kind of load. The Wilson's are super dynamic, but need some space to sound best. The tweeter favors slightly warm elect...
HiFi Rose RS250 I've had my 150 2 weeks now. Ethernet connection. Streaming Qobuz, and with quality source material, sounds fantastic. Is it as good as top flight analog? Not sure yet as I've not made direct comparisons yet, but the mere thought that it...
Gryphon Essence Stereo vs Pass Labs XA series Would think the Pass 60.8 would have more power and current than a stereo Essence. A mono pair of Essence may be a different story, but then again it costs triple the smaller Pass, and near double the 160.8. I've heard both but never a chance in...
Another turntable Keep the TW, and add a Wheaton triplanar or a Reed tonearm. Most other options mentioned above are a lateral move, at best. Good luck!
New Herron VTPH 2A versus used Audio Research Reference 2 Phono Ended up with a pristine used ARC Reference 2 SE phono, with new tubes. So far, I am very happy with this unit. Bought it at about 50% of retail, still more than a new Herron, which I believe is out of production. Happy listening! |
