Turntable rumble: what causes it?
The turntable sits on an antique wrought iron table with glass top.  It sits about 5 feet from the speakers.  BTW the table does have a decent suspension, and weighs about 25 pounds.
Amplification: what are the biggest advances of the last 40 years?
Some audiophile friends and sales people are of the opinion that "older amplifiers are outdated' and therefore cannot compete with the better new high end amps".Personally, I'm skeptical of such statements, hence my original post.Is it true that t...
Amplification: what are the biggest advances of the last 40 years?
One reason I'm asking:During a recent visit at my local dealer, I inquired as to why the new amplifier we were listening to was so expensive? The reply was something to the effect that "well, the technology and parts quality of these newer generati...
Wilson Audio Sabrina X Reviewed ! WOW
My take on Wilson's after owning several models over 30 years, as well as owning at present a set of Magico's as well as a pair of Joseph Audio's:Wilson excels at cabinet design resulting in high output capability.  They excel in dynamics, as well...
New Joseph Audio Pulsar Graphene 2
Using my Pulsar 2's with a Pass XA25.  In my medium sized room sound is wonderful.  Sound Anchor stands help as well.I think a Luxman might work well also.Higher power tubes should work as well.Have no intention of swapping out the JA's.
New turntable: TW or Obama?
Guys please don't take anything I post politically.  All tongue in cheek on my part as evidently some here took the original title seriously.Back to the tables. My SOTA/SME is 30 years old, Brazilian rosewood.  Bought it new and not going anywhere....
New turntable: TW or Obama?
Guys, my apologies on the title.  A victim of my smart device's auto check.  I proof read my post but forgot to check the title. But maybe I'm getting more left wing feedback and interest so it's all good ....:)
Azimuth: how critical is it?
Looking at the headshell head on there is a slight visible tilt, maybe 3 - 5 degrees visually.  I do not have measurement devices to check cross talk, etc.The sound is good to very good, with good imaging.  My particular listening situation is a l...
Krell KRS-100 caprevision
Brian are you suggesting the big blue caps in the 250 likely do not need replacement?  Ever?  If so that's very good information. Thanks and keep us posted on your progress.
Krell KRS-100 caprevision
You doing the work yourself or did you send the amps to Krell?Reason I ask is I also have an old Krell needing restoration.Thanks.
Need advice on used Wilson Audio speakers
I've owned Wilson's nearly thirty years, 3 different sets: WP 2, WP 7, and Sasha 1's.IMO they got better and peaked towards the end of Dave's involvement.Once Darryl took over the Wilson "house sound" changed rather dramatically.  The current line...
Mágico M6 vs Big Wilson speakers
Be aware that the Wilson sound has changed quite a bit in the last several years.  Basically, it is a much softer/warmer sound under the direction of Darryl Wilson, versus the historic tuning of founder Dave Wilson.  Some people like the newer sou...
Pass XA 25 or Bryston 3B3?
Upgrading from an Adcom  555.The Adcom is the weak link in the system, results in some unnatural brightness and hardness to the sound.  Also less dimensional.Temporarily using a Krell from my other system largely cured those problems. However I wa...
D'agostino amplifiers: where's the beef?
Interesting replies so far for sure.A few points to consider:M400's have an 1800 KV transformer as stated in this thread.  I believe my KSA 250 has a 4500 KV transformer that by itself outweighs an entire M400 mono amp by 20 pounds or more.  Just ...
D'agostino amplifiers: where's the beef?
As I said I'm a fan of Dan's stuff - when it was obvious why it was expensive. And I agree his new amps sound good as well.Just where's the beef? The parts inside these new amps are modest for what they cost.  That's all.  And I'm wondering if other...
