any audiophile guitarists out there?
I have ~15 guitars and 5 amps (that matter) plus several amps I've built or am building. The primary amps are Fender Concert Reverb, Super 112, Hot Rod Deluxe, Crate VFX5112, and Peavey Special 130. I have a little Silvertone Organ amp that I conv...
What is the Audiogon of music instruments?
not exactly like A'gon in regards to classifieds with formalized selling, feedback, etc, but Harmony Central does have Classifieds, Extensive Reviews, and active forums.
Proceed Pre preamp remote codes - same as avp?
I'm not sure if the Pre codes are the same as the AVP (don't think it is), but the Pre will output the codes via the front panel for each function and permit you to train a learning remote. Get a copy of the manual off of the Proceed web site and ...
Any smooth jazz fans out there?
I like some, and hate some. My thinking is Smooth Jazz is to Jazz as Pop is to Rock. Some of it is catchy, but it's very easy to tire. Some of it is immediately annoying and/or trite. Then there is some that I can listen to a lot (eg, Dave Grusin,...
"Neck and Neck" Mark Knopfler/Chat Atkins
Can anyone comment on the Chet & Lenny Breau album? I've been meaning to pick that one up for many years. judging from the amazon.com reviews it's comparable to the other Chet and ** releases; however also judging from amazon.com, you may need...
"Neck and Neck" Mark Knopfler/Chat Atkins
agree, agree. If you like this, you need to check out "Chester and Lester" and "Guitar Monsters" - both are Chet Atkins and Les Paul recorded in the '70's - the same comedy/banter with great guitar playing and production.
John Prine
I sure would like for him to release another new album. Fair and Square (2007) was great . . . need some more!
Most unusual/mesmerizing female voice.
Jane Relf . . . not necessarily that unusual (ie odd), but unusually beautiful and indeed mesmerizing.
Most unusual/mesmerizing female voice.
agree, Margo . . . Also, Hope Sandoval is up there
Philips 212 vs Lenco L85....
I had the Lenco - it's a belt drive (not Idler), and the platter is stamped steel, not a heavy cast/machined job. That said, I would say it's worth $100 provided it's in excellent condition. The drive mechanism is solid, but the tone arm is very a...
New music
The best for last, from 2009:Michael Shreve and Spellbinder "Live At TOST"Ex Santana drummer Shrieve puts together a band with more chops than Mortons of Chicago. My favorite album of the last five years and one that has rarely been heard.thanks f...
members with no feedback?
I get to know the person, and finalize the transaction once I'm comfortable the person is legitimate. Feedback on A'gon isn't the only way a person can learn about online purchasing or selling, and other things like good faith, and honesty.
TAD-60 owners, what tubes are you using?
I recently sold my TAD 60. For power I had run Svetlana EL34s, SED Wing C EL34s, Valve Art KT88's, and Shuguang KT100's. All were very good except for the Svetlanas which are merely average. I was running Raytheon 5814's (to the best of my recolle...
The many musical faces of Mr. Miles Davis?
I took a day to think about this and I guess the style (period) I prefer is mood dependent. That is, what mood I'm in. I agree with the comments on his genius, and influence.
Vertical vs Horizontal Bi-amp
I think another benefit, if you're using identical amps, may come from the fact in horizontal biamp the bass amp will need to drive more current than amps running in vertical biamp. The work required of the power supply is balanced - again amplifi...
