"Best" multichannel universal player right now?
There is only so much you can do with $500. Oppo did what they can to maximize the BDP-83's performance. They sell direct; that is why it is so inexpensive bypassing wholesale and retail.Video quality is top notch. It makes my DVD (I mean good DVD...
Who has a 2nd Graham Phantom armwand?
I only have one armwand. I did swapp cartridges a few times. The armwand is very strong, but of course you do it gently. Don't force it. That said, if you swap armwand so often like changing records on your TT, then I would opt for a second arm.
"Best" multichannel universal player right now?
I vote for the new Oppo BDP-83 player. Fast load time (like my PS3), stunning video, decent audio, nice build quality, and only $499.
Rega TT PSU..... one or two buttons ?
I have a P5 and the addition of the TT PSU improves the sound. To me, it is not substantial, but noticeable. I guess it is worth it if you can get one used. Again, every bit of improvement helps.
Graham Phantom vs. Phantom II
Crystalref,Nothing wrong with your hands or eyesight. I am lucky. No, I have been taking pictures for years as my secondary hobby. I guess I have taken more pictures than you and learned from lots of mistakes. The point here is to share and help e...
Graham Phantom vs. Phantom II
I didn't know Crystalref already posted some pictures. I also took some. I don't have a virtual system posted. But I created one just for the Phantom II pictures. You can look at them at the following link.http://forum.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/fr.pl?v...
Graham Phantom vs. Phantom II
Taylor514,Bob mentioned "the older arms can be upgraded easily (well, quite easily, if the customer is handy at all..."So I think the older II can be upgraded to the latest with the micropoise. As to how it can be done, ask your dealer or wait pat...
Graham Phantom vs. Phantom II
Let me help clear the confusion for you all.Crystalref already stated the differences between Phantom I and II. The latest Phantom II has a spirit level (bubble) on the right side of the arm tower.I asked Bob Graham a few months ago this question,...
Graham Phantom vs. Phantom II
I used to have the Phantom I and now have the II. It is not day and light difference, but noticeable. With the Phantom II, I heard quicker transient, more air, deeper bass, better dynamics (more explosive), and more presence with instruments and v...
thinking of trying vinyl
In my opinion, cheap CD player usually beats cheap turntable. But if you move up to $5k+, that will be different story. The most expensive table often times beats the most expensive CD player. So for $300, it is okay to try out vinyl, but don't ha...
Stylus Force Gauge
I am using the Weight Watcher from Clearaudio. Well built and accurate. The Acoustech one is not stable in my opinion. The figure keeps flutuating.
Who has dumped the power conditioner?
I personally don't believe in power conditioners that I tried quite a few in the past. They just make your system sound different, better in some areas, but bad in others. Dynamics always suffer when connected them to the power amps. I have dedica...
What cartridge for Rega P5?
Thanks for the info, folks. Unfortunately I already have a Grado Reference Platinum on hand left over from previous TT. Yes, I heard that people say Grado hums on a Rega setup. I am going to try it anyway. If not working well, I will consider the ...

stupid newbie 45 question
You need a 45 rpm adapter that you can put on the spindle. Not sure if your table comes with it.
