It's Great Having So Many Choices (?)
Less is more.  I don’t like too many choices.  My simple brain kind of gets stuck. Having said this, I do have way too many of certain things in my life, which does cause me some stress.
What do $2500 speaker cables sound like?
I think if someone went into it expecting to hear a big difference they’d be highly disappointed.  If they approached it with hopes of hearing a slight difference, they might not be let down? I know I wouldn’t hear a $2300 improvement in sound.
Returning damaged item to seller....
Does the price he charged mean he ate a large portion of the upfront shipping cost out to you, where he listed the shipping price as $40 thinking that’s all it would cost but was surprised at the FedEx for an additional $38.50 or damn near another...
How Big of a Difference?
Differences in cables, even those costing megabucks, is subtle at best even in the most resolving of systems in dedicated listening rooms IMO and IME.   I’d suggest buying from a dealer that has a return policy with little to no restocking fees t...
Why Are People So Concerned About How Others Spend Their Money?
I so don’t care about those types of comments that they no longer even register in my brain when I read them. If I thought about it, I’d say it’s the insecure putting others down to make themselves feel better.
Can I please borrow your collective brain power?
Thanks, all. I was curious.  Seemed a waste if they were unnecessary to have them in there. I’ll leave them. Cheers.
More expensive = better?
Absolutely. And a $16K amp will sound even better. That’s what the salesperson will say. But in reality it’s unfortunately about system matching, room matching, musical preferences and your likes.  That 8K amp might sound like a turd to “you” i...
Amp will not power off
Not a biggie. Replace the switch or just leave it powered on. Cheers.
Are tubes psychological?
It’s like reading a book by a cozy fire versus central heat. Same book, different experience. That’s kind of how it feels to me.
Products you added to your system in 2021 that made most impact to your music enjoyment
You all are amazing! Congrats on your mental acuity. 2021 was a blur for me. I’m sure I picked up a few impressive things, but zero clue as to what it/they might have been.
How do you explain audiophiles to your friends?
My friend at work is a lamp cord and science guy.  He gets a kick when I tell him of the money I’ve spent on fancy “lamp” cord.
Room Acoustic Treatment
Twenty-one year old thread.   Hope the guy figured it out.   But in case he didn’t, GIK.   😃
How long do you or should you keep your gear.
I just skimmed the article but the gist I got was that the author equated audio technology with that of computers.     Whatever.
Returning damaged item to seller....
He should pay for shipping imo; however, be aware he’s more than likely out all the money, plus the money it’ll cost to get it shipped back and end up with a broken item unless he had the shipper pack and box because insurance won’t pay for damage...
Listening to music I don’t particularly like
I used to, sort of. A few decades back I used to try and get the recordings the reviewers used and raved about in doing the reviews of equipment.  I then realized their musical tastes and mine were on different planets. I only listen to music I ...
