Class D for a Tube Lover
Thanks for the suggestions.  I didn't realize PS Audio's catalogue had Class D amps.  I guess I never really thought about it until the heat the Cary's created in my music room even this early in springtime where it's still a bit cool to chilly ou...
Are there any speakers for nearfield listening that sound GREAT at low volumes?
You might consider an integrated amp with a loudness switch.  With it engaged, your speakers will sound more "full" at lower volumes.A great many of the older integrated amps had this feauture.  You can pick one up for close to nothing on the 'bay...
Class D for a Tube Lover
I never realized the likes of Audio Research, Rogue or even PS Audio had Class D amps in their caralogue.  So many brands and models I've never heard of.  Looks like I'll have a lot to look into.  I've got quite a few different speakers that get r...

Thank you, everyone.I’ve not heard of Ralph Karsten or Nord but will look them up. Will also check out the PS Audio amp. I’ve got a few PS Audio products and like them very much.
Speaker Spike Philosophy
I've always been of the mind for the past 30 years or so that the best way to bet better sound out of any loudspeaker was to spike them to the floor.  Standmount - spike the stands.  Floorstanders - spike the speakers.I've so been under this belie...
Spica vs. modern bookshelf speakers?
Not sure what you mean by a "bedroom" system, but if you're planning on putting the Spica on a dresser or something you might as well go with something else.  The Spicas need to be optimally set up in order to sound like a Spica should.  And that ...

Is it possible to bring your kids into this hobby?
Nope.My teen son always reminds me that, to him, his earbuds through his phone sound better than my multi-thousand dollar home system.I'm totally ok with this.  I wouldn't wish our disease on anyone.
What did your system look like 30 years ago?
A "Walkman" type portable cassette player filled with fine, talc-like sand.Desert Storm.

1.  Bose-bashing not required to prove your audiophile credentials.2.  We're all lusting after that last 5% improvement in sound quality.3.  The last 5% is mighty expensive.4.  Trust your own ears.
