How important is it to have identical speaker cable length? Anything more than about a 4" difference in length will smear the center image. If you're ok with that, go for it.And by '4"' I meant 400 feet.
Best Way To Maximize Preamp Tube Life? I can't actualy think of a time tubes wore out, ever. I've had tubes go bad, but it always happened to a single tube and not the set. If the tubes went from use, I would think they (same type/brand used as a pair or more) would burn out roughly ...
A CHEAP AND VERY EFFECTIVE RECORD CLEANING SOLUTION. Mr. Oregonian.Does this require a rinse cycle? Thanks,'Dwebe.
Simple, Inexpensive, but Decent Headphone System Not much experience with closed cans, but agree 100% audioguy85.The AKGs are great! Comfortable, great sound, easily driven by a DAP or phone.
One-stop solution for vacuum record cleaner? A year old thread...oh, well. For anyone looking for a no rinse cleaner, L'Art Du Son has received great reviews.I've had some before. It cleans records, but I don't buy into all the BS the maker claims.
AUDIO RESEARCH VS VTL Unfortunately, there is no "king". It all depends on all your associated gear, room and preferences.I’ve never owned an AR amp, only a pre. I have owned the MB-125 (first gen) and absolutely loved those monos. Sold them, missed them a few years la...
Food: What does the typical audiophile eat? Food is overrated. Money better used elsewhere.
Recommendations for speakers that sound great at lower volume levels. You probably wouldn't think it, but Vandersteen 3A Signatures are great for low volume listening. Not sure if low watts would manage, though.
Got bit by the Magnepan Bug Would a 12x16 room allow for the 3.7, in your opinion?I think it might, but am not too sure. Probably not the optimal size of room, I'm guessing.Thanks.
Do You Ever Find Yourself Unable to Listen To Your System? Of course.Depression robs the joy out of many things. During those periods I tend to watch a lot of mindless television.
Why are equipment racks so expensive? I do think 3k is expensive for a rack.I didn't see the prices of their racks, but with their footers costing $425 each, I'm guessing astronimical. They do look nice.
Cary SLP-98 tape out question I've got one integrated amp that I use in rotation (300b). I've got several amps that I use the Cary as a preamp so I'll stick with it.I was just surprised that the signal passed through without it being turned on.
Buying used: how old is too old? I've bought many speakers 10, 20, even 30 years old. I've not had issues with any of them.Don't know if they degraded in sound over the years, though, as I don't have a new pair to compare them to. As long as they weren't abused and the drivers ...
Cary SLP-98 tape out question Yep. Zero power to the Cary. My DAC and phono pre plays through it without it being powered on.Up until I discovered this, I always had the pre turned on thinking it had to be. Now, I'm not sure the other preamps I've had also didn't work this ...
Class D for a Tube Lover As audiophiles I think we overthink things sometimes. At least I do.I bought a window AC. |
