How old are your speakers
I have a pair of altec 604 E. that are from the early 1960s. I have a pair of Fostex T 900 super tweeters to add to the top and a pair of 12 inch subs augmenting the bottom. This is my primary system and the only system. I used to have a pair of ...
Lyra Delos A truth teller or what?
It goes to show you how subjective this hobby is. I can't believe somebody would prefer the black to the Delos. I had them both in my system at same time and in my mind there was no comparison. I do agree with the poster that says the helicon is ...
MQA•Foolish New Algorithm? Vote!
@jon2020 that is an excellent article you linked above. Everybody should read it and in my opinion it lays it out clearly that MQA is crap.
MQA•Foolish New Algorithm? Vote!
I am assuming the post above mine is meant to say everything in the audio chain has losses, we choose our flavours. My understanding is that MQA is more about copyright than it is about sound quality. The rip off companies wanna get back to protec...

Usaudiomart is the way to go imho. I've been using it's sister site, CanuckAudioMart for years with great success.
Digital vs Vinyl: The winner is ??
His turntable was running slow!!
Who thinks $5K speaker cable really better than generic 14AWG cable?
@audExactly! Even if they did make a difference why the heck would you pay 5K for something that's worth $100
Critique my setup
There is no such thing as too much tubes in your system. Good tube gear does not sound slow and bloated, that is bad gear or speakers that are in incompatible match with the tube gear.   If you have the proper speakers there is no need to comprom...
Wide dispersion + high efficiency + detail + coherence in a speaker?
I never understand why dispersion Is important to people. When I do any serious listening I sit down and listen. In fact I consider lessxdispersion a good thing as you get less room interaction. If you’re looking for a party speaker, then yes disp...
Takes one to know one
@bdp24 I just read the testimony of the book about Robbie Robertson's life. It gave the impression that he was the driving creative force behind the lyric song writing of the band.   He definitely portrays that all members were equal in the creati...
TT mats
@bdp24 I had a TNT Mark III with the original platter and switch to a classic platter. I ran both with no mats. I find the classic platter to be more live sounding, a little more dynamic with perhaps a touch hotter treble. I do think preference ha...
Low level buzzing coming from tweeters.
I have a pair of atmosphere m60s and had that problem and it turned out to be an input tube.  I also have a LuTron dimmer in my room and whenever the lights are on I get a little buzz as well.
Oomph or pressure?
I went through a period where I was very interested in passive but ultimately found an active gave me better involvement with the music. I found the passive to lack dynamics and drive in the music basically the same as the complaint in this threa...
Grading phono cartridges Part 2.
@chakster  so you got burnt by GRG Audio as well…I purchased a Benz with apparently 300 hours on it. When I received it life's circumstances intervened and I didn't get a chance to install it for a few months. When I finally did install it it was ...
Analog bliss!
And then you have self-proclaimed expert's like Raul saying that tubes and vinyl are substandard.  The only thing I can ascertain from that is he must be deaf.
