Speaker setup for HT in $2000 range
I would go for the Paradigm Reference series. They are voiced together for HT, don't cost the earth (many different models to choose from for all budgets), and sound simply amazing. One of the best features of these speakers is that they are VERY ...
Any WARM, MUSICAL speakers out there?
I third the Vandersteen Model 5. They are incredible and may be my next speaker purchase. I am in the same boat as you in finding many systems to be too cold. The Wilson Sophias were the worst I have heard so far in this regard (very clear soundin...
The new Mcintosh MC 402
Congradulations Jolen1aub! Nice to see someone happy about their system. BTW, what amp did the 402 replace? Arthur
Who heard or has a McIntosh MC7100?
Again, it depends what type of sound you like. Some people don't like McIntosh, just like some people don't like ML, don't like Classe, don't like ARC, don't like Pass Labs, etc... To each his own. Gullahisland is proof that you need to audition f...
Who heard or has a McIntosh MC7100?
Well since your preamp is a hybrid with no feedback, it probably does have a highish output impedance and the 2100 has a 10x higher input impedance than the 7100 but I think that in terms of the overall affect, the lack of dynamics of the 2100 wil...
Help with preamp choice please
I very much enjoyed the 99 with the 88 on Tannoy D700 - one of the best setups I have heard in a while. I don't know the Sunfire though. Just 2 cents... Arthur
Who heard or has a McIntosh MC7100?
Hey Jalen - Right now on ebay is a McIntosh C710 preamp with a buy-it-now price of $450. It is the same identical pre as mine but for a much better price (mine tends to go for $700 range). The C710 is extremely rare but is identical to C712 except...
Madrigal Mark Levinson out of business.
I find Harmon's lack of respect for its employees to be dispicable. I have thus scratched all Harmon companies from my list of potential future purchases. I want the brains, not the name.
Who heard or has a McIntosh MC7100?
I have a MC7100 and I find it to be truly excellent. I have had several amps through my system and the 7100 is still here. It has a distictly full body to its sound with excellent bass (noticibly more powerful than the specs - it has trumped much-...
How Do Odyssey Amps Stack Up To McCormack Amps.
I found the McCormack 125 to be too cold for my tastes. I was comparing it to my McIntosh MC7100. The McI has great body and soul that the McC can't match. However the McC was a little more forward which was nice and the dynamics seemed a little f...
How to Bi- Amp old McIntosh gear.
Sounds like your speakers have two sets of posts for the same crossover. I think mine are the same which I have determined makes biwiring a questionable proposition. Bi-amping my be in the same predicament. Hope others can confirm this for me too....
Tube Preamp with "pass through" for HT option?
McIntosh C2200
Warm integrated ss amp around 650?
Personally I don't find the Audio Refinement complete to be all that warm. I thought it was a little on the "thin" side too paired up with JM Lab Electra 926 and Tannoy D700. However, for your price range, it may be the best choice. The CAP-100 is...
Speaker Cables for Paradigm ref 100 V2
I use MIT T2 cables with my 100.2s and find them to be excellent. Much nicer than my last Kimbers. Paired with McIntosh electronics. Arthur
Paradigm or Monitor Audio's?? Any thoughts?
I would just get the Studio 40s - especially for a closeout price. The entire Paradigm Studio line is fantastic for the price - and I have tried several brands like B&W, Hales, Soliloquy, etc. I love my 100s to death. Good luck!
