anyone heard the v.3 Paradigm Studio yet?
Bookshelf is a bad idea. Play around with placement and you will soon prove it to yourself. But with a wife.... BTW, the older Paradigms are probably getting discounted and I think they all have front ports. My 100.2 are fantastic.
Is there a Great Integrated Tube amp for $3-4K
Not to mention that the VK-300x is more than $4k. A decked out one with all tubes is right at $6k... Very nice sound however! Arthur
Looking for 42in Plasma TV Please help
Definately check out the Hitachi plasmas. They make many of the other brand plasmas too but keep the best for themselves. They are knockout.
If you can only choose one of these Amps
There is no clear spec for knowing how an amp handles a certain speaker. The relationship between power and current is Power = voltage * current, so it depends on the voltage which is where marketing comes in. How the power is measured is also dic...
If you can only choose one of these Amps
I agree with Jbello but since you asked, I would pick the Classe CA200 because it has a wonderfully warm sound to it. the McCormack DNA125 is leaner, like the Krell (I had a KSA100 for a while) and I don't enjoy it as much as Classe. Jeff Rowland ...
Which SS amps sound like a tube amp?
All of the recent McIntosh, Pass X150, CJ 2300 (and others of that era). I have to say that after listening to the Audio Research 100.2 several times in two systems, I don't think it is very tubey. I was surprised to see it listed here a few times...
The Shortest Time you kept a new piece for ??
That is funny - I thought the MA6850 was very nice. I guess we are all different and all have different systems (room included) we use to audition a single component. I ditched used B&W N805 speakers faster than anything else - 5 days or so. A...
Speaker suggestions to go with MAC gear please
I auditioned the C100 and MC352 on Tannoy D700s and was very very impressed. Everyone in the dealer came around to hear the event. It was the most popular setup there although definately not the most expensive. I however don't really like B&W ...
What do you think of Classe
I was making a general-sound-type comparison. If Classe sounded exactly like Rowland, Rowland would be out of business. Arthur
How can i ......
I think Marty may be right. It may be attached from the back side. See if you can see anything with a flashlight from the back or what. You will be working a long time prying it out if the woofer is screwed in. Many modern things aren't designed t...
Mac 402 vs 6900
I'am not sure how a power cord has wrong polarity. How did you find this out?? Arthur
What do you think of Classe
Very good products if you like their character. I would describe them as a little dark, a little warm, smooth, coherent, and overall pretty rich. Different type of sound than Krell but Pass, McIntosh, JRDG, and Revox are similar IME. Congradulatio...
Freqency response
Yes indeed. Often however, the speaker will have the most restricted frequency response so it is the deciding factor. Not always the case though. Check to see how the frequency response is measured too. Some do half-power (-3dB) and some don't. Bo...
Anyone have, or heard a McIntosh C41?
The C41 is a fine solid state preamp. For the money, you won't go wrong. I have heard one with a Mc202 amp several times and the sound is very impressive and the value is fantastic if you find a used or demo one. I do have to add however that if I...
Poping noise starting up Mcintosh MA 6900
Transformer coupled outputs cannot pass DC. This is fundamental to a transformer of this type. As for the retailer exchanging the amp - be happy you bought a McIntosh. Krell would not do this for me a few years back. I had to send it off and wait ...
