I'm happy with og record pressed in Germany and have no interest R/R tape so far

Sounds very promising, will check it out at Axpona this week. For me, 15ips master tape copies can be the ultimate in terns of SQ, CD and streaming don't even come close, the difference is that obvious. See my previous post on this subject.

Original German pressing must sound excellent. So would a 15 ips dub from the 30 ips master, that’s what I’d like to hear.

I’m currently listening to a 2005 remaster on Qobuz. The tipped-up highs are giving me a headache.

If this post sparks any interest in acquiring R2R tape decks,  Curt Palmer at Reel to Reel tech is your man.  I got my Revox B77 from him and it's the bomb.

Thanks for the post.

Yello is my favorite electronic band bar none. Any audiophile should pay them attention, regardless of their musical tastes. Their sound and recording technique are unequal. They are that good. I have all 14 of their CDs. Not a bad one. Try Point for a starter, your system and you will be thankful.

Agree, some absolute classic albums. Underrated. Great production.  Base For Alec, one of my fav tracks! How do the original German pressings compare to the remastered ones from 2005?  One regular feature of HIFI News magazine I enjoy is when they feature a classic album and talk about all the different versions (Cds/lps) and remasters, are there any websites that do this so you can determine which is best on the ears?  Thanks

Wow! Thanks for posting this--Yello is indeed underrated. Boris Blank's production is incredible. Toy and Flag are two of my fav albums. I hope more groups from the 80s/90s continue to remaster and re-release back catalogs. I'm also looking forward to Pet Shop Boys new album coming out April 26---they're releasing it in different formats including Blu-Ray.

The 2005 "Stella" CD remaster is highly compressed, as is the download. It would be great if their catalogue was remastered with SQ as a priority.

Sorry, I tried to link to Yello on DR Database, but had problems. The average DR on Stella is 8 although is still worth listening to.

The Limited Edition Dolby Atmos Blue Ray "Point" is really fun.  I don't have height speakers but the "stage" changes between front and surround speakers.  Very high quality recording for my 7.1 surround system.
