Whats playing on your system today?

Today I decided to listen to two of my favorite rock guitar heros and one great vocalist. Guitarist' Robin Trower, Ronnie Montrose and vocalist Davey Pattison.

I listened to Trower songs:
Bridge of sighs, Stitch in time, The fool and me, my personal favorite- Too rolling stoned and others.....

Then I pulled out "Gamma".
I listened to: Razor King, Wish I was and Skin and bone and others.....

Davey Pattison hooked has also up with Michael Shenker also. I really enjoyed my day so far. Anybody else heard anything good?

so far today:

Wishbone Ash "Live Dates/Vol II"
Hole "Live Through This"
The Ides of March "Vehicle"
Iron Butterfly  "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida"
Dixie Chicks "Home"
Lucinda Williams "The Ghosts of Highway 20"
Ryan Adams "Ashes and Fire"

just to remark on three others, that stood out:

"Home"... I wanted to choose just one song from this lp that I could post on "Tune of the Day" and decided that they all were just too good to choose (one). The SQ is awesome. Songwriting is superb! Get it/listen to it!

"The Ghosts of Highway 20"... I've listened to this one about 5 times now. Not sure of the exact timeline... her father passed away between this lp and her last. Lucinda takes us through that process and comes out for the better. I cannot think of any other American artist who paints such a personal picture through her song better than Lucinda. Continues to just get better!

"Ashes & Fire"... This is the lp I would imagine Ryan would give us after his divorce. Such a beautiful, soulful record. The sonics are superb albeit, it seems to be recorded too hot for such an introspective outing. What a record!

I'm having a ball!
slaw,

I am glad you enjoyed the Wishbone Ash! Definitely a great live album.
As far as the Ides of March, I have heard the song "Vehicle", but not the rest of the album. I will definitely look into it.😎

The Ides of March  "Vehicle".  I cannot recommend this lp highly enough! If you like Chicago or Blood Sweat & Tears, and on one song, "Factory Band" there's even a John Fogerty vibe.....  you need to search this one out. Jim Peterik has one of the great rock voices! A great cover of "Wooden Ships" as well. It would make a great record show find. Actually, that's where I found my copy over 20 years ago.
arcam88,

Just listened to Wishbone Ash "Live Dates/Vol II". I could not be more pleased! Not only with the music but the SQ and the set list.
Mahler 7th symphony, Barenboim cond. Great performance. Gives it much more coherence than other versions I've heard. Also Bruno Walter cond. Bruckner 9th. very mellow. For a bonus, a mix I made of adagios from Beethoven string quartets.
God bless the great composers and performers. And thanks to the folks who make the systems we listen to.
Anyone who appreciates progressive rock should enjoy this!😎

@reubent  - "Tuned in" Rado Paradise for a little bit last night.  Immediately hearing some different stuff (e.g., Shearwater) and not the same tired old classic rock.  You are right about Bill G having a great voice for radio.  Thanks again for the recommendation.  Will be revisiting the station soon.
@ghosthouse - Radio Paradise doesn't really have on-air personalities or much commentary. It does have the owners - Bill and Rebecca Goldsmith, who personally curate the music and provide a bit of commentary.Bill was a radio DJ for many years, and a radio station manager. He has a great voice for radio and a very soothing delivery.

What it does offer is an eclectic mix of rock, folk, singer/songwriter, alt-country, Americana, pop, jazz and classical music. They do an excellent job of transitioning from one song, to the next. Sometimes the music flows for hours on end.

I too miss the great radio stations of the past. Radio Paradise fills the void. And then some......
Hey arcam88 - A big AMEN to that!  (tried to @ ya but it wasn't working).

@reubent - Don't know Radio Paradise but certainly interested in checking it out.  The Aries Mini provides access to internet radio.  It's unexplored territory for me.  Have to say I do miss the great FM stations from when I lived on the east coast.  Does RP have DJ's...i.e. radio personalities with some reasonably intelligent commentary?  Either way, thanks for the recommendation
ghosthouse,
In my opinion Led Zeppelin's "Since I've Been Lovin'You" is one of the greatest rock songs ever recorded and definitely one of my favorites.
It will always sound fresh!😎
I’m listening to Radio Paradise (again!) tonight. Honestly, if broadcast radio was this good, I’d have to get a tuner again. Do you guys listen to RP internet radio? It’s friggin’ awesome IMHO. I have my little Raspberry Pi music streamer/renderer playing it at low volume 24X7 in my basement listing room. I’ll drop in at 7am, lunch, after work and late at night just to hear what they are playing. I absolutely love their eclectic mix.

BTW, playing right now of RP - THE classic screamin’ guitar jam - "Big Country".

@ghosthouse , I thought this was folk music. But anyway, I liked the music. Wiki page indicates that it is Lucinda Williams on this album. Will check out other albums by Allen and see if I like them.
Hey @milpai - found that Human Remains on the Spot. Pretty fussy about the country I listen to but his songs are strong. Guy is kinda John Prine & Kris Kristofferson with a little Randy Newman thrown in. Can’t be a bad thing. Do I hear Lucinda Williams doing harmony vocals? Pretty sure I do. Another good thing.

Interesting guy as per the bio in Wikipedia...

Led Zeppelin III - "Since I've Been Loving You". Sounds great and still fresh 47 years down the road.

Spinning Jennies - "Full Volume: The Best of....".  Crank it UP.
Terry Allen- Human Remains
I am hearing this on Spotify through my Bluetooth receiver, and it is so musical. On Song 6 right now and this CD has been ordered from Amazon.

nutty & reubent,
Yes I remember the "Wild Man's theme song!
And yes "Blow Your Face Out" is a great live album!😎
nutty,

I put on the Thiumph lp,  half way through the first song... I felt I was listening to rock only for rock's sake. Not good!

I put on Montrose "Jump On It".

What a difference an lp makes!

I remember thinking 3 decades ago, how I thought that this lp was sort of "out there".

I was wrong. DAMN GOOD!

Happy listening.
Cueing up The National "Sad Songs For Dirty Lovers"! (lp)

Have a great on all..........
arcam88,
Wildman Walker, one our local WEBN DJ's spent 61 day camping on a billboard protesting until the Cincinnati Bengals won a game. Without showering! He is currently on a different station but still uses that song as his intro into his sports segment. I always loved this song, https://youtu.be/gW0hxbrmFhM
(It contains the live intro)

slaw,
Triumph has a ton of great media. Along with Allied Forces -Rock & Roll Machine, Just a Game and Progressions of Power are all fantastic. And lets not forget the 1976 S/T that included such great songs as "Street Fighting Man" and "Blinding Light Show" https://youtu.be/YPrBdXASlMI
Enjoy the vinyl! It’s golden.

..and speaking of Triumph...

nutty,
I just cleaned my lp copy of "Allied Forces", will put it on today.

Happy listening.
reubent,

I tip my hat to you sir... finding a clean/nice copy of that (lp) is a major triumph!...maybe I'll get one of mine out today. hum???
Nutty, Arcam88,

Funny you should mention J Geils Band. Last week I just received a really nice copy of the double live LP "Blow Your Face Out". Great stuff. House Rockin......
Hey arcamm88,
Thanks for posting the J. Giels Band, Monkey Island. It's been a long time since I heard that one. https://youtu.be/bVZLqe77IQU
