Iron Butterfly "Metamorphosis".
This is one of a few lps that just brings me back to my early days of listening to music. It never fails to transport me back to a better time.
Simon & Garfunkel "Bookends". My all time favorite lp. This record still sounds SUPERB! It has all of the hallmarks of a great record. One that, upon ,each and every listen, has the same effect in, that it transports you into that specific, space, and time.
...which brings me to an appropriate ending...
Ten Years After "A Space In Time".. Need I go further???
Have a great one all.

Slaw,
I may be making this up, but I think I saw a local billboard the other day (it always lists upcoming shows at our local club) with an Iron Butterfly date. They may be touring. FYI. |

You are correct! IronButterfly.com does have sbow dates.
N |
Sorry Slaw,
Not the most precise language I've ever used in a post - I didn't intend to suggest that we live close to each other. I'm in SoCal. I was only pointing out that if Iron Butterfly is playing here, they may be out touring the land. Possibly passing your way, wherever that may be! |

Nutty, I was just looking at UFO records at my local shop this weekend. I was a big fan back in the day. One of my collage roommates had Lights Out and Obsession and we rocked out to both of them fairly often. I'll pcik up both of them when I find decent copies at a fair price. |
BTW, tonight I listened mostly to Radio Paradise. They had a very good evening set going. What a great (internet) radio station....... |
UFO 1. Is a great release by them I have it on CD only
R |
Rory Gallagher- "Keychain", "Fly off the handle". (YouTube link for Rory below) https://youtu.be/Yml4V-zcf3ABlur-"Song 2". (Just wanted something nonsensical and loud!) Gary Moore- "Parisienne walkways". N |
Matthew Sweet .....Girlfriend. Somehow, It fell out of rotation. What a mistake that was. One of my favorite guitar records ever. Richard Lloyd and Robert Quine, among others work wonders within the confines of some amazing, beautifully crafted songs by Sweet. |

radfrad - just catching up with some of the earlier posts in this thread. The original release of that self-titled Rory Gallagher you are talking about goes back to 1971 and is WELL recorded for sure. That comes across very much even on CD. It was his first solo release after his band, Taste, broke up. Does your version have, "Gypsy Woman"? That's a great track for bass (bonus on the CD). Unfortunate that not all his later stuff is up to par sonically (though the music and playing are compelling). Have you tried his, "Tattoo" yet? Well worth it for A Million Miles Away alone. Glad to see another RG fan made. Wish he were still around. |
I dusted off "Peggy Suicide" by Julian Cope last night. I had forgotten what a weird dude he is, but also enjoyed the music a lot. Cope definitely has the Iggy Pop/Bowie vibe going on this one. |
Ghost house- "Gypsy Woman" is not on this LP. But boy does this recording come across as some of the best sounding recording among my entire collection. Maybe 350 LP and 200 CD. My LP collection I purchased back in late 70's and into 80's. Then I got into Cd cuz that was the rage. 80's 90's. A lot are duplicate CD LP. Same artists. I now buy more LP as a first choice now Collection is nearly all classic Rock & Roll
R |
Peter Gabrial- So.
Elton John- Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
Lit- (1 song), "My own worst enemy".
N |
Baroness "Red". One of new bands with talented mixture of metal jazz and prog. |
|
Repeating myself rad, but I definitely agree with you on how good that S/T Rory Gallagher sounds. It just makes me wonder why EVERYTHING can’t sound that good. A subject for a whole ’nother thread I suppose.... If you could find the CD used for cheap, might be worth it for that 1 track. Have fun.
|
"Gypsy woman" is an old Muddy Waters tune.

The last couple of days I have been listening to mostly movie sound tracks from the 1950s , 1960s and 1970s ,.
