Whats playing on your system today?

Today I decided to listen to two of my favorite rock guitar heros and one great vocalist. Guitarist' Robin Trower, Ronnie Montrose and vocalist Davey Pattison.

I listened to Trower songs:
Bridge of sighs, Stitch in time, The fool and me, my personal favorite- Too rolling stoned and others.....

Then I pulled out "Gamma".
I listened to: Razor King, Wish I was and Skin and bone and others.....

Davey Pattison hooked has also up with Michael Shenker also. I really enjoyed my day so far. Anybody else heard anything good?

Rush - "Hemispheres" - Bought the record on release day in 1978 and still listen to it today. One of many masterpieces by one of my favorite bands......
Still one of the best recordings I have on vinyl.
Ghost in the Machine... The Police
What a blast!
Sunburned, bit dehydrated and foot weary but a totally awesome day!
It does not get much better than spending quality time with your 18 year old daughter and listening to some primo rock all day long!

To wind down
August and Everything... Counting Crows in the car on the drive home.
Night all!
@stereo5 ,

I feel you dude, only I can see glimpses of outdoors from my listening seat.

If you're in the market, all of the most recent re-masters of Pink Floyd are outstanding. Worth the price of admission.

The "Twin Peaks" lps are outstanding! I now have an appreciation for this record I never did before..

It is a beautiful Saturday, weather is perfect, but I wanted to listen to my main rig, hadn't heard it in a week.  I was only going to play I cd, but you know how that goes.  Todays listening:

Pink Floyd,  "Wish You Were Here" (Mastersound)
Van Halen, "Van Halen"
Temple Of The Dog, "Temple Of The Dog"
Talking Heads, "Speaking In Tongues"

So, 3 1/2 hours later, I am finally stepping outside.
But for something a little lighter before we leave for Rockville.

Confessions of a romance novelist... The Anchoress.aka Catherine Anne Davies
@nutty.
Boy a blast from the past, remember seeing Slayer on the reign of blood tour.
Now I hear this is their last year, farewell tour.
Mountain "Twin Peaks" (lp)

I bought this lp in the mid seventies. It's been through hell. I just put it through a thorough cleaning and am currently spinning it for the first time since 1980?.

Nantucket Sleigh Ride takes two complete sides.
@pops ,

You were correct on the sonics of the Dave Matthews "Live @ Red Rocks" lp box. I haven’t finished it yet but, boy is it one good sounding set! Dead quiet vinyl. So glad I didn’t pass this one over. Easily one of the best sounding (live) rock lps I own.

Steve
Today's live that I will be catching at Rockville.

Red Sun Rising
Sevendust
Breaking Benjamin
Stone Sour
Avenged Sevenfold

What an overdose of hard rock!
I heard that uberwaltz. Haha.

Chris Hillman "Bidin’ My Time" (lp)
Elliot Murphy  "Affairs" (lp)

starting on my box set of....
Dave Matthews Live @ Red Rocks" (lp)
Wake up time: Peer Gynt Suite #2, Mozart Piano Concerto #20 (cadenzas Beethoven), couldn’t stop my self:  Mozart Piano Concerto #27. So much music, so little time, sigh!
Freshly cleaned original copy of 2112, yes the one by Rush not Styx......lol

This was a bargain bin $1 purchase that needed a lot of cleaning work but now it really sounds good with just a very few odd clicks and pops. Never give up on vinyl, you can ressurect just about most of them.
@slaw

Spot on with the avatar.
I can highly recommend their new album, its songs are maybe a bit more catchy, crafted with hooks rather than some of their earlier stuff but very well recorded.

My daughter is doing all 3 days of Rockville, this ol fart can only manage Sat!

I do not have catfish rising on vinyl, yet!
@uberwaltz,

I listened to both of the above JT lps.

IMO, for sonics, I like my EU "Catfish Rising". Sounds more analog, has  more (soul).

Steve
...BTW... I just pulled out my "Catfish Rising" lp.

It's an EU copy. I think I bought it upon release. It has an additional 12", 3 track bonus lp. Interesting? Currently cleaning it....
...BTW...your mentioning "Crest of a Knave" recently has me motivated to pull out my copy...maybe "Catfish Rising" as well?

Right now...."War Child" (lp)
@ uberwaltz,

Is your new moniker picture, the cover of the new "The Perfect Circle" lp?
If so, How does it sound?

Hope you & your daughter have a great time!
@reubent,

As fellow lover of the Jayhawks, it’s kind of hard not to recommend their records but, I’ve listened once and can say there’s nothing that would keep me from recommending it from my one time listening regarding sonics. I will most likely listen again over the weekend. I also have "mockingbird time" waiting in the ’wings’.

The National would be a very cool band to experience live!

Pretty much a live music fest all weekend for myself and my daughter.
Its Rockville time!
Google it to see the artists!
@slaw - The National is hosting a 3 day music festival here in Cincinnati this weekend (where the band members are from and the band was founded). The festival is called "The National Homecoming". Pretty cool lineup, but I can't go :~(

Also, The Jayhawks - "Hollywood Town Hall" is a GREAT album. I only have it on an original CD. How's the reissue vinyl? I'll put it on my wish-list if you think it's worthy.

A gifted copy of Led Zeppelin "II" (no RL)(lp)

The National "Sleep Well Beast" (lp)
Dead Can Dance - Within The Realm Of A Dying Sun ( LP )

shining darkly on my humble vintage system.....yum
May have to look for some Tears For Fears on cassette then, none in my sprawling tape collection...yet
+++ On Tears for Fears. Both "The Hurting" and "Songs From the Big Chair" were in heavy rotation on my TT back in the mid '80's and spinning on the CDP after that. They still get the occasional spin, but I have a lot more music to choose from now....
@ozzy

Yes I have the latest album
Agreed it is obviously not on par with classic Styx but still worth a spin for sure.

Same as the 2 latest Uriah Heep albums, very different from classic Heep but still hell yeah!
Agreed- geoffkait

I wore out several TFF cassettes prior to the CD format.
Happy Listening!
ozzy,
.
+1 Styx and yes it is good.

Robin Trower, and old one- "Sweet Wine of Love"
Hughes/Thrall

N
uberwaltz,

Have you heard the last STYX album?
