Today I decided to listen to two of my favorite rock guitar heros and one great vocalist. Guitarist' Robin Trower, Ronnie Montrose and vocalist Davey Pattison.
I listened to Trower songs: Bridge of sighs, Stitch in time, The fool and me, my personal favorite- Too rolling stoned and others.....
Then I pulled out "Gamma". I listened to: Razor King, Wish I was and Skin and bone and others.....
Davey Pattison hooked has also up with Michael Shenker also. I really enjoyed my day so far. Anybody else heard anything good?
I'm a bit embarrassed to admit it, but I don't own "Blood and Chocolate" on vinyl or CD. I've only hear it a couple of times over the years, so I'm streaming it via Spotify right now. Obviously I'm not super familiar with it, so it's tough to rate it or put it in my hierarchy of EC albums. However, based on tonight's listen. it's not going to replace any of my top 3 favorite Elvis Costello albums. There are a couple of very good songs, like "I Want You" and "Battered Old Bird". But overall, for me it doesn't hold my interest, start to finish, like "All This Useless Beauty", "King of America" or "Spike". Maybe with a few more listens...........
received this vinyl reissue today via FedEx from Music Direct. Excellent dynamics, very clean sounding. One of the best live Fillmore East recordings. Bass goes very low and not at all thin sounding. Of course all the songs are first rate. Highly recommended!
I still have not finished working my way through Jimis purple velvet box set. But what I have heard was pretty darn good in the SQ department. Good to know on that reissue.
Validpoint, I just ordered a "East River Pipe" album (Mel) off discogs. Looks like he collaborated with "The Magnetic Fields" on that one. Should be interesting. Never heard of this band before now.
Bryan Ferry / Mamouna He is back with Eno on a few of these songs. Great combination.
