Tribute to Uncle Tupelo / For anyone that's listening |
@Boxer12 you into Papadosio too? Their soundboards sound amazing! Some of the best recordings I've ever heard imho! |
Uncle Tupelo and The Replacements, the two most influential bands of their generation. Tupelo, like Big Star and The Jayhawks, had two songwriter/singers who each needed their own band. For some reason Lennon & McCartney could mind-meld where others can't. I never saw the appeal of The Replacements, but by the time they arrived I may have been too old for their brand of music. |
Ripe. Roon labels them alt/indie, but I think they’re more R&B. They have a horn section of trumpet and trombone. I had the pleasure of seeing them a couple of weeks ago at the Beachcomber in Wellfleet MA. Great show, awesome party/dance music. I understand they are a bunch of Berklee grads, local to the Boston area. Check out their album, Joy in the Wild Unknown, on Tidal. |

Biscorbit, I've never heard of Papadosio but will check them out. Thanks
Bdp24, Uncle Tupelo's music has aged well. I know you're an analog fan... If you haven't already, check out their March 16-20, 1992 album. It would be right up your alley & is recorded well.
I'm also a fan of Tweedy's stuff, Wilco, & Son Volt. Really surprised Son Volt didn't find a larger audience.

It's almost like we should be ashamed for it.....
