Whats on your turntable tonight?

For me its the first or very early LP's of:
Allman Brothers - "Allman Joys" "Idyllwild South"
Santana - "Santana" 200 g reissue
Emerson Lake and Palmer - "Emerson Lake and Palmer"
and,
Beethoven - "Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major" Rudolph Serkin/Ozawa/BSO
slipknot1

A Trick Of The Tail, now that is a great album.  I'll have to pull it out and play it.

I played some newer music and some very familiar music today as I am still understanding my new speakers.  So far, even though they are a long way from being fully broken in, they are sounding absolutely spectacular.

Blue Stingrays  -  Surf-N-Burn   I learned of this one on this thread.  I don't have any surf music in my collection and really need to add some.  I need some Dick Dale, for certain.  This one is rather quite good.  This thread is a blessing for me.

Joni Mitchell  -  Blue   Jonis' voice has never sounded so good on my system.

Joni Mitchell  -  Don Juan's Reckless Daughter   This is a Japanese pressing and the vinyl is superb.  The sonics are out of this world.

Talking Heads  -  Speaking In Tongues  Reissue, German Pressing.  Excellent, so well done, the best sounding Talking Heads album I have.  And today was even better than ever.

Can't wait for tomorrow...

@mammothguy54 Chris & Tina know how to break in those woofers! Ya gotta follow it up with Remain in Light.

Spencer, I sent you a message

@tgilb +1 for Genesis

Joel, I bought "Trick of the tail" back in the day & consider it the best post Gabriel Genesis album. Wonderful really. Glad you are enjoying your new speakers!

Genesis - ...And Then There Were Three

1978 Atlantic Records

Good album but definitely a loss with Steve Hackett leaving the band.

I was really disappointed when Peter Gabriel went off on his own but I agree with the comments on A Trick Of The Tail. I didn’t know what to expect when it was released and was blown away  with how good it was then and still is. All four guys pulled together with some great song writing.

Joe Jackson / I’m The Man
1979 A&M

No kidding Joe, you’re the Man and you’re ‘in the room’ on this one.

Dire Straits / Love Over Gold
1982 Warner Bros.

Outstanding album in every way. Impressive soundstage.

Roxy Music / Avalon
2022 Virgin half speed master by Bob Ludwig at Masterdisk, orig. 1982

I agree about the new Roxy Music reissues, the two I have gotten are quite good.  My original Avalon is excellent.  But if anyone is able to compare an original with the new reissue, I am all ears.  Please let me know.

those new Roxy Music reissues are pretty special!

Greg, I agree. Not just great sonics, but super quiet (at least my copy is) vinyl and a single disc at 33 1/3. I need to pick up some others while they’re available.

Hans Theesink & Terry Evans "Delta Time"

Featuring Ry Cooder

2012/Blue Groove

Diana Krall "Love Scenes"

2022/ORG/ 2nd pressing

my replacement copy 🤞🤞

lucrecia dalt - no era solida

strange and spooky stuff!!! highly recommended if you’re into getting weird. reminiscent of robert ashley's automatic writing - glosolalia with haunted loops and that kind of thing

Cake - Fashion Nugget.  This is a replacement for the one I got that was all jacked up. This one has a light warp but not too bad. So far, so good.

Fantastic mastering/pressing BG/CB. Good extra tracks...very worthwhile!

I can't recommend the US reissue of Fashion Nugget. It was fogged, had a small skip on one side, the light warp, and it sounded like the second side had a scratch at the end, although nothing was visible.  The European reissue in the other hand is really nice.

@big_greg @slaw I asked VMP which version of Fashion Nugget they sell, as I have credit there. Reply: "I asked our product manager and we don't have that information", lol pretty sad.

Spencer, that seems odd. Maybe the drone you communicated with didn't bother to ask and just made that up.

David & David - Boomtown - excellent O/P - been a while since I listened to this one

Miles Davis - AP UHQR 45rpm - staggeringly good

Kenny Burrell - Bluesy Burrell - AP 33rpm - incredible, SQ and recording are PHENOMENAL - highest recommendation

Black Country New Road - For the First Time - interesting band interesting album

I got the Bluesy Burrell last month.  I concur, "highest recommendation".  An excellent album to enjoy with a glass of wine☺
