@musicpod Agreed. I also really like the live version of 157 Riverside Ave on You Get What You Play For.
Here is what I learned (mostly from Brian E) about posting images here:
Get a postimage account. I don’t think there is an Apple app. Just bookmark or save the mobile web page to your iPhone’s screen and it will work as handily as an app. Go there and (pull down the menu at the top right) and “upload “ square (or whatever shaped) photos from your photo library on your phone. Copy the URL of the photo by using the “direct” link option (second one down) using the little icon to the right. (Don’t copy the url in the box there it won’t copy to Agon). Paste url into the photo box in the new menu above the text box. The photo box has an icon of mountains I think (not the regular text box that doesn’t work) Click center Go back up a little and type 350 x 350. With the lock on It Will do the second number for you (or it will be close to 350 anyway) click done or whatever check the preview post your photo its pretty lame and way to involved, best attempted in a state of grace…

@tgilb +1 for “Strangers Almanac”. One of his best. |
Nala Sinephro - Space 1.8
@slaw I think music like this sounds particularly good on my Quads. I mean recordings of electronic music that was never really played on real instruments in real space. |
Welcome @rafevw ! |
@mjmcubfn - On U2's - "The Joshua Tree", tracks 5-9 is one of my top favorite "consecutively great" runs in my entire musical knowledge base. 5 - "Running to Stand Still" 6 - "Red Hill Mining Town" 7 - "In God's Country" 8 - "Trip Through Your Wires" 9 - "One Tree Hill" Fantastico! |
Had a wonderful visit today with @nicks25 enjoying a sampling.. Brubeck, Gillian Welch, Nick Lowe, Joe Jackson, Donald Fagen, and more….. Super cool dude, so enjoy Nick ;-) Best thread on Agon. Jim |
@rafevw Welcome ! |
@puffball08 reminded me I hadn’t spun any George for a while…. George Harrison - Dark Horse. Apple 1974

@bkeske What condition is your "Dark Horse" in? By that, I mean any peculiar surface noise? My "Living In The Material World" is awful. Terrible surface noise which is evident throughout the record on both sides. The record was allegedly pressed at Capitol in Jacksonville, IL. Generally, they do a pretty good job. But on this release, early '73 according to Discogs, they used some kind of mold release agent that won't come off. It's visible from the matrix throughout the grooves to the edges of the record on both sides. I've tried several surfactant treatments and 3 trips through the Degritter to no avail. I compare this with John Lennon's "Walls and Bridges" plus the Red and Blue Beatles double LP compilations both from the 1973/74 era and pressed at Capitol-Jacksonville which are pristine.

My Dark Horse is a Jacksonville pressing as well. I think it sounds pretty good, but in terms of surface noise, well, I bought mine new when it was released, and played the hell out of it. So, many of my albums from that time have ‘user abuse’ surface noise vs pressing noise. Thus, can’t say I can blame the pressing as much as not handling my vinyl back then with the care I do today. Damn teenagers! 😁 |
@big_greg ya man, expertly crafted…. fun |
Back home from my latest ski trip. Fantastic skiing at Mammoth Mountain. Spinning vinyl today. The new analog rig is spectacular. Trying some different genres and from suggestions/ideas from thread as of recent. Lou Rawls - All Things In Time Motels - S/T Mingus - Mingus Mingus Mingus Mingus Mingus Side two is my favorite! Talking Heads - Speaking In Tongues |
@rafevw Welcome to THE thread. Thanks for posting about this album. I was not familiar with it but streaming it now and really digging the sound. Great players! And the strings are really nice too. RVG recording but so far to me sounds more modern. Maybe this digital is remixed, don’t k ow. Great post. On my want list now. Thanks! |
