Whats on your turntable tonight?

For me its the first or very early LP's of:
Allman Brothers - "Allman Joys" "Idyllwild South"
Santana - "Santana" 200 g reissue
Emerson Lake and Palmer - "Emerson Lake and Palmer"
and,
Beethoven - "Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major" Rudolph Serkin/Ozawa/BSO
slipknot1
My music friend and I were talking about Grand Funk last weekend.
He's never heard ", Phoenix"

This album features the organ in each song!
Also like GFR Closer To Home, it has I’m Your Captain/Closer To Home on it. But Phoenix is my favorite. Back in the day when band members liked to pose with their shirts off. LOL

Gregg Allman /  Laid Back
Yes, I like the Hammond! Lots of bands back then used it, then along came the MOOG. Uriah Heep had one cranked up so loud at a concert my ears weren’t happy afterwards but that spinning horn was almost hypnotic.
Yeah, "Closer to Home" is more laid back in terms of their output. Oh yeah, do you have the AP version of "Laid Back"?

Get it!!!
Funny you mentioned Iron Butterfly, they were on the bill with Uriah Heep. Probably need to play Ball before the night’s over now.

1973 ECM

For sure Steve, not to mention doing a little production work for other artists (319 credits in Discogs!).  DSOTM for example.
@slaw yes sir! I’m an unabashed Sadies fanboy. At times, my favorite band. I’ve seen them twice now and can’t recommend them highly enough. They can play anything.  There is a great video of them backing Neko Case on the Conan O’Brien show available on YouTube for the uninitiated.

@bslon I just got a copy of “Come And Get it - a tribute to Badfinger” on cd (I looked for and couldn’t find vinyl). It a compilation of Badfinger covers. Aimee Mann does a nice job on Baby Blue.

@noromance Murder Ballads is a winner, but have you heard Alone at The Alexandra Palace? OMG on vinyl!

This morning is:
Sufjan Stevens - Come On Feel The Illinoise!...John Wayne Cacy is the creepiest song ever.
Ben Folds and WASO - Live in Perth...You can feel the fun the orchestra players are having.
All Bangles fans owe it to themselves to get the Matthew Sweet & Susannah Hoffs Under The Covers albums. One covers each of 60s, 70s & 80s. Harmony ear candy!
+1 on Gone to Earth.  One of my favorites for 12-string sound and a terrific record overall.   Nice choice @bslon.
Ray Conniff And His Orchestra & Chorus - Memories Are Made Of This. Columbia 1960 Stereo
Artie Shaw - S/T. Everest Records Archive Of Folk & Jazz Music, Compilation 1972

BJH caused a kerfluffle with their song Poor Man’s Moody Blues, gotta like ‘em for that.

Deodado /  Very Together

Tropea / untitled
Following the lead on some of the prior posts yesterday and jumping on the Grand Funk Railroad. Self titled second album.
1969 Capitol original. Stripped down raw power. Great album.

Dang Brian, you’re on a nostalgic trip.  I recognize the pattern from my own thinking.

Ha! Actually just picked up that Frank album, then looked through the stacks of similar LP’s that don’t get playing time. I do always play music that is somewhat relative. Grabbing that Anita Baker album was an odd transition, and thought I would hate it, but it was actually enjoyable….and was the gateway to get to Sade which has been on my minds radar for a few days. Yes, how my mind thinks 😁 ……
@boxer12

Mickey Hart / Rolling thunder

Man used to listen to that LP often, (along with Diga), but the SQ is really pretty terrible, so have a hard time spinning it anymore.

Kingfish brings back a lot of good memories though. I believe Torbert (along with Bobby obviously) was in the original and on that album.
Bkeske,
I also wish they were recorded better :-(. Good music though! Yes, Dave is on the self titled Kingfish album.

Of those two, I tend to like "Rolling thunder" better. Although Mickey Hart has always seemed a bit "weird" to me, he was (probably still is) one heck of an artist, even on his own. A very creative man.
Bill Evans Trio-On a Friday Evening Craft

I’ve listened to all 4 sides of this one probably a dozen times since it arrived. Craft sometimes gets a bad rap for quality control, but this pressing is flawess.
@boxer12, @bkeske,

I hadn’t listened to that Kingfish LP since, I don’t remember when! This thread is a lot of fun!
