Whats on your turntable tonight?

For me its the first or very early LP's of:
Allman Brothers - "Allman Joys" "Idyllwild South"
Santana - "Santana" 200 g reissue
Emerson Lake and Palmer - "Emerson Lake and Palmer"
and,
Beethoven - "Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major" Rudolph Serkin/Ozawa/BSO
slipknot1
Just arrived today…..

Cannonball Adderley - Something Else. With Miles Davis, Hank Jones, Sam Jones, & Art Blakey. Blue Note reissue 2014, originally 1958 mono.

Too lazy to but my mono cart on right now, but sounds pretty incredible regardless.

To me, as good as Kind of Blue
While I have the mono cart on….

Oscar Peterson Trio with Milt Jackson - Very Tall. Verve 1962 mono
Toto IV. I'm not really a big Toto fan but there is no denying that this is a really nice sounding record.
Going way back tonight:
Grace Jones (the most sexual person I have ever known) - Portfolio - Side 2, Track 1 - La Vie En Rose, 1976
David Bowie - Let's Dance - Side 1, Track 3 - Let's Dance (played through after China Girl). 1983
Berlin - Pleasure Victim - Sex [I'm a . . .], 1982

Post removed
Mono cart still mounted….one of my favs:

Budapest String Quartet - Beethoven: The Six Quartets, Op. 18. Odyssey 3LP box reissue 1969 mono, originally 1959. Recorded 1951
Hey Brian,

Thought you had a few headshells with different carts already mounted?
Yep, I do Steve. I simply meant mounted to the arm….and VTF….and VTA adjustments necessary for critical listening. So not as simply as swapping, but easier than unmounting and mounting on a fixed headshell.
I watched another video of Dr. kirmuss at a show being interviewed by Fremer. I'm becoming very interested in his cleaning system minus his main unit. I think my Vibrato is just as good. May try his cleaning system?
Clifford Brown Memorial Album
1969 Liberty reissue

Easily one of the best Jazz Albums I’ve ever heard. God only knows what “Brownie” would have gone to produce if he lived past 25.  Only four years of his incredible talent was recorded.
@mvrooman1526

Good stuff. Although he was a bit older when he passed, I feel similarly about Eric Dolphy.
Eugene Ormandy conducts Wagner - Parsifal. Philadelphia Orchestra. Columbia Masterworks 1956

Mono
Steve,

Regarding Kirmus method, also check out the method used by theaudiophileman  I like his method very much and am about to get the products and begin to apply that method with my Degritter.  It's very similar to Kirmus.  You can find it by searching for "Degritter review" or via his website.

Michael Franks  "Tiger In The Rain"  Direct-Disc Labs, I do so much enjoy this album.

The Cars  "Heartbeat City"  Just got it this week so had to listen to it again.  It's really a very well produced and mixed album.  Great music!

Alice Cooper  "Goes  To Hell"  Since this has been mentioned lately I just had to pull it out, clean it, and play.  Very well produced album.  Really fun to listen to.  Always a fan of Alice Cooper.  I have a MoFi issue of "Welcome To My Nightmare" that I just may have to play tomorrow night.

Jethro Tull  "This Was"  The Steven Wilson remix.  Steven made a few cuts a bit bass heavy, but still quite entertaining.  A truly excellent early Tull album, showing their blues/rock side of the band.  I have most of the Steven Wilson remixes of Tull.  I think his best endeavor is "Stand Up".
George Szell conducts Tchaikovsky - Variations On A Rococo Theme For ’Cello And Orchestra In A Major, Op. 33 & Weber - Overture To "Der Freischütz" / Overture To "Oberon". The New York Philharmonic w/Leonard Rose, cello. Columbia Masterworks 1952

Mono

Edit: I really forgot how wonderful a recording this is. Mono recorded and engineered well (even 70 years old) really does have a stereophonic stage and depth to it. This is delightful.
Joel,

My music friend has a Kirmuss. He's been impressed with my cleaning of his lps.
Eduard van Beinum conducts Brahms - Symphony No. 2 In D Major, Op. 73. Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam. Epic late 50’s

Mono

Elvis Costello & The Attractions / Live at Hollywood High and elsewhere 1978.

1 of 9 pieces of vinyl in the Armed Forces boxed set.
Worth the price alone.

thrive
L. A. Dream Team 12" - Rockberry Jam with Funky Fresh
Gruesome Twosome 12" - Hallucination Generation (shout our to Mario who I stole this one from)
Bomb the Bass 12" - Love So True - Depth Charge remix (doesn't sound as fresh now, but worked up the dance floor back then)
Ryuichi Sakamoto - Neo Geo (my Oakland girlfriend could not believe Sly & Robbie would tour as supporting artists, Zellerbach 1989)
Ultravox - Systems of Romance (last album with John Foxx as lead singer, before they went from punk to full New Wave pop)
Eugene Ormandy conducts Beethoven - Piano Concerto No. 4 In G Major, Op. 58 & Piano Concerto No. 2 In B Flat Major, Op.19. The Philadelphia Orchestra with Rudolf Serkin, piano. Columbia Masterworks 1955

Mono
Ian & Sylvia "The Best Of"
Vanguard/stereo/pp

Got this at my last record show, just now cleaned it. Sounds marvelous!

Would've preferred the mono.....
Hey @nicks25,

I was just texting my friend about Stevie.
Do you have any of his Live lps?
@slaw

I do not have any live albums.  Any I should check out?
Had one of my vintage speakers go out on me.  The guy told me 2 months due to repair backlog.  Emergency Craigslist search found a pair of Sansui SP-2700s for $325.   They sound pretty good!
Yeah, my friend had a Live lp that we listened to recently. Sounded phenomenal. It trying to locate the exact one. Will let you know.
